She has the no.1 and no.3[?] best selling singles of all time, I think.

Which is saying a lot. Most albums never even sell that much!

She is definitely an icon!

I guess I clicked the wrong option.
She's been through so much as an artist and as a person.. it's inspiring to see her still going on today.

I like her! I don't know that much about her, but I heard 'Free', 'WoWa', and 'Want Me, Want Me' and loved all three. Those were the first songs I heard by her. I also really love 'ALL FOR YOU'. I don't have a lot of songs by her downloaded, though.. but whenever I see one to download, I download it. xD

Well, now there's more reason to respect Namie with her breaking the record for having a single to rank in the top 10 on the Oricon charts every year for 13 years. By the looks of things, Namie is only likely to increase this 1st place standing.

Be honest about amuro:

-Please it's already time to learn new dance moves A.S.A.P. That spinning around crap has gotten old and unprofessional, no matter if you do it in rollerskaters or with the pink panther.
-No more "Alarm" clones, thank you. More songs like Put 'Em Up, instead.
-Your latest single rocks! No more stupid songs about being sick, anorexy, insomnia crap because they're as bad as being sick.

i definitely respect her in a big way..personally ive been around listenin to jpop since around "RESPECT the power of love" era.. she was VERY VERY huge back then and i didnt even know who was Ayu.. i remember seeing that PV on tv n everybody talked bout a song where in the video, the girl walked across the desert in a mini skirt n knee-high boots, singing "RESPECT, RESPECT, RESPECT the power of love.."

that was when i started to like her..and im proud to have seen her journey since back then till now..so many ups n downs..n despite the fact that shes not sellin as much(very very big diffrence indeed), shes still holdin on strong n kickin out amazing stuff.. she definitely deserves humongous respect, especially from other singers out there..

love Namie, and i love Baby Dont Cry.. the lyrics are amazing ;_)

I agree 100% Im finding that "Style" was generally a better album then Queen of Hip Pop. Like I said before, I pretty much adored both albums, but now ive listened to them to death now, I usually skip over the majority of QoHP songs in favour for her slightly older stuff...

I respect her and I know she's considered an icon in Japan. But I've just only recently started to listen to her music so I don't know if I'd consider as an icon personally. I do like some of her songs though (like WoWa and her new one, which has been on constant repeat on my mp3 player for the last 2 weeks). But at the same time I find it questionable that she considers herself the queen of hip hop? Um... she's a decent dancer and all but she lacks the power and swagger that makes a GREAT dancer. Nevertheless, I do like her voice and think that she has a nice personality (from the interviews I've seen).

I LOVEEEEE me some Namie. I do consider her an icon. At first I wasn't into all the way but than I heard Four Season, that went I definitely started listening to her. Now that I've heard her songs like, lovin' it (fave song of NA), White Light, Violet Sauce, Alarm, Wowa, Want Me-Want Me, So Crazy, Queen of Hip-pop......to many to list, she's my second fave artist. I definitely like her R&B side than her early pop style and I do consider her to be THE QUEEN OF J-HIP-HOP!!!!!

I know what you mean, rainday, about the whole 'Queen of Hip-Hop' thing. That's what I thought when I first read the album title, but then I realized that it was Hip Pop and then I was okay with it.

I respect Namie A LOT!

she has been through a lot. Her mom was murdered!. Namie stayed strong through that, and I think, for that alone, she deserves respect by everybody!

I highly respect her, I haven't been big on her music since ALARM, but I LOVED her over all image before that. I even have some of her rare SUPER MONKEYS singles, she was great when young too, I think her voice is powerful and even though it still sounds a bit like a "typical female Japanese singer" it is different. I would choose her stuff anytime over soooo many of those artists whos names I don't know cuz I don't care cuz they sound all the same, any day (except Morning Musume cuz I'm an otaku =P)
