I think that Anthony caught most of it in his quite simple post in the other part of Me thread...
To me 99% of what's in this thread is pretty much over thinking, although I'm sure there is meaning to the PV a lot that has been said in here is quite crazy. Sorry for not contributing very much, but I also didn't like the PV very much.

No no, someone said that it was too gaudy or w/e and could've been simpler..
I was just saying that it didn't seem that "packed with effects/scenes"~ Not that the symbols and stuff weren't there.. :O

Quote:
Here is my understanding: First, we have 2 Ayu: white and red. ![]() The white Ayu: Why her hair is white? It’s not blone, actually the background is yellow so we see her hair is blone, but it’s white. She has been waiting for her lover for a long time, maybe a whole of her life, that’s why her hair changes from black to white. ![]() The red Ayu: From my thinking, I’m not sure she is still alive or not. Sometimes I think she is already dead, what we see is just a footage show us about her dead. Anyway, it’s one of my opinions. Maybe she is still alive and she always stands under the maidenhair tree (no cherry tree here) with the horse until she is dead. Why I think in this way? You should see the background, it’s red. The red color is the color of hell, of blood, of dead. - The butterfly for me is a symbol for a short life of people. And the mantus was the time, also destiny. When mantus kill the butterfly means you can’t resist the destiny. And the snake is a god of revenge. As I remember, snake in Japan is a symbol of Shinto (kami – God) means about the reincarnation – the wheel of distiny. When you dead, you will become another one – born again in another thing – the new life in second life. - The horse symbolize for freedom. Why the horse is tied up with the tree? Maybe Ayu wants to say that she likes the horse, she choose the promise with her lover, stay and wait for him forever. She ties herself with the promise like the horse, in place of freedom. The most beautiful scene in this PV for me is when Ayu falls down after she draw out 9 brooches hairpin. I think this action means she finally decide to accept the dead comes to her. After dead, Ayu’s body becomes one with the tree. She still here, her soul, continue waiting her lover. She is blossom to improve that. Quote:
![]() The butterfly also is Ayu. Eventhough how long she is waiting, when the time pass by, she becomes old and have to die. Her life is short like a butterfly, can’t resist the power of time. Nothing is exist forever although tree, soul and love. -- Sorry for my bad English ![]()

It's like Voyage film I think, isn't the first time that Ayu talks about the soulmates and the reincarnation

I found this, is very interesting:
Quote:
I think maybe she was deeply sad about an old love and she felt died, but now her new love make feel reborn. She=Butterfly Old love=Mantis Reborn=Snake Immortality=Horse? Ayu turn to nature like the butterfly turn to snake, and the horse is the symbol of these immortality.

nice finding sakamoko!
I also think that when ayu.s hair is growing is like time passes while she waits her true love, then she dies and never finds him.

OoO Very interesting!
At first I thought the PV was sort of boring, but I think after 2 or 3 times it really started to make me think. I hadn't read the lyrics until I started going through this thread, so I still don't know if I can come up with some good analysis XD

Do u think that this PV thinking all about is... is it??
Do ayu really have a complicated PV?? |

I think that for Japanese people or everybody that know a lot the Japanese folklore is easy to interpret.
But yes, even so is a complicated PV, but don't forget that for Avex/Ayumi is the A BEST 2 PV, must be special, more than others. |
