I had really hoped the sales would be awesome due to the fact that it's her first single in a flippin year. BUT, we did have Secret AND A BEST 2 since Blue Bird.. so it's not like the Japanese people have been without her...

they're not terrible sales.. they're just not fantastic. *shrugs* Ayu's "fantastic" days are over, sales-wise. But that's ok! We luff her!

Very, very true! Before I started watching HYD2 I thought that Flavor of Life was a pretty ordinary song, but after seeing it tied into the emotional scenes in HYD, I started listening to it a lot more XD; glitter/fated WOULD probably sell more if it were an image song for a drama as high profile as HYD.

i don't expect high sales for this single
glitter never appealed to me, and now fated is boring me
but of course, she's been in this industry for a decade, so i'm not surprised that her songs sound similar now

ANYWAY, the estimated number was ~155k for the first week and usually the trend has been that the actual sales have been over oricon estimations.

Actually, that was not an estimation - 155 was the number of people out of 400 that were interested in glitter / fated, as another user pointed out.

#2 - Porno Graffitti: 15,055 (x1.75) = 26,346

Total Sales Estimation:

#1 - Ayumi Hamasaki: 23,533 + 15,835 = 39,368 (x 1.75) = 68,894
#2 - Porno Graffitti: 18,068 + 15,055 = 33,123 (x1.75) = 57,965

the 2nd day sales... wow.. i didn't expect it would be dropping like that.. the indicator is 15835 only.. and porno is 15055.. so that means their indicator difference is only 708 (x 1.7 = ~1200 copies).

well... combine first two days sales:

Ayu = 23533 + 15835 = 39368... x 1.7 => 66925 copies
Porno = 18068 + 15055 = 33123... x 1.7 => 56309 copies

about 100K differences... should be good enough to hold on no.1 position for the week..
