I agree about the non exaggerated comments about the vocals, but all of the songs sounded live to me on that concert to be honest.

then it will depend on each individual ability to tell the difference

and the amount of experience+exposure he/she has listened to real live vocal performances through various artists' live dvd...

And what if someone who actually went to the concert thought it wasn't? :|

I saw ayu's, kumi's, namie's (not all tours), hikki's (not all tours), BoA's, YUI's. yuna ito's, angekla aki's and some more random j-artists I like's concerts, I'm sure I can tell what's live and what's not from what I hear and see. I'm sorry, but ayu didn't lip-sync on that countdown, not from what I saw and heard.

Wow Ayu forum drama, anyways.

I enjoyed this year's CDL...possibly more than last year's. It may be because of the majority of the new songs this year performed. Regarding her vocals, I really loved the performances of Together When..., Bold & Delicious, untitled ~for her~, and MY ALL (her emotions overflowing). Together When... sounded much better than most of the TV performances, too bad she was too tired for kouhaku. Bold & Delicious was just awesome...although I still hate the yagadawo lol.

With regards to the lip syncing, she may have a backing track playing and when her voice is too thin the person who controls it turns it up. The tone quality of STEP you and evolution does sound different to the rest of the songs, but it may be because she's using more of her nasal cavity to produce the tone. Other than that though, I don't think she would purposely lip sync or otherwise...how could that SURREAL performance have occured.

decision sounded horrible, but that was mostly due to Peko and Princess. SURREAL was completely off...but I noticed she was tampering with her earphones a LOT in this performance. I wonder if something technical malfunctioned. She is partly deaf, and since around 2006(?) she's used these new earphones for her live performances and they have been better from 2005.

I really enjoyed watching the concert. Most of what I said is just a repeat of everybody else...but I think most of you guys are just wording things the wrong way. Ayu is not one of the superb vocalists of the world, and if I really wanted to listen to one I'd attend an opera performance. So isn't Namie, Utada, BoA, etc. They are all commercial musicians, who can sing but are not vocal virtuoso. Some may be better than the other, but they would all lose out against true virtuoso in terms of tone quality, proper vocal technique, etc. What's real to me about Ayu is in her lyrics, how she takes part in producing her music/shows, and how she doesn't lip sync completely (correct me if I'm wrong). She brings emotion to her songs, and I'm able to feel that as an audience watching a performer, and that's enough. I'm an Ayu fan, and I seriously don't think anyone should be a fan because they think she's a great vocalist. She can sing, but most of the time there are flaws.

Is it a test?
A lot of BoA's lives are lip-synced
She doesn't lip-sync mainly her ballads.
Sweet Impact.. was lip-synced from what I remember.
You even couldn't hear her breath while she danced.

true..for most of her korean stuffs (thats why i kept on saying she can't sing+dance at the same time)

but for her japanese's ...i can't say that...

for the sweet impact performance, it almost the same as ayu's Step you performance, it's not the studio version cuz u can hear the difference and some ups & downs from the vocal but it's TOO perfect to make me believe cuz the way she dances, she can't produce such stable and exact notes while dancing so viscously !

same as ayumi, if that vocal is live, then i bet she have no problem with the rest of the cdl at all...every performances will have top notch vocal performance if i only judge from the STEP you performance only...

but hell, the rest is like...crap...

maybe she drunk acid while she's back stage and cuz her vocal-cord to go bad...?

Hey, does anyone happen to have the part of this CDL performance where Ayu comes out (right after "Glitter' and then the ayu trance bit), and starts chatting for awhile with the band members, translated? It'd be great if I knew what they were saying to eachother

Together When...'s vocals were the best on this CDL imo and it was sang after STEP you.
I said earlier that I even wouldn't mind if it would replace the studio version 'cause she sang that one so good.

hmm... because everything i saw is negative ^_^ i dun say anything about koda or leah dizon (she sounded horrible) cuz i'm really impressed by her vocal most of the times and for leah dizon, she's new to the singing thingy and she's really not the talented singer type...

imagine if i saw the CDL and ayumi's live vocal was like so good and enjoyable, do u think i will put out negative comments?

i'll like

'O_O wow...ayumi really improved her live singing! ^_^ she really sounded great! loved it'

but sadly that's not what i saw or heard/...

Yeah her live vocals are good too, I prefer ayu's though.

This is an ayu discussion though, as you can see.

in your mind/heart u know that Boa is what a 'TRUE' singer should sound like but the ayumi-blinding element is binding u to ayumi no matter what and thinking even though boa is truly better..u still choose ayumi...

it some sort of obsession ...

it's strange that ayumi has the ability to make ppl obsessed about her...i was obsessed about her once too but i'm willing to give chances to other fantastic jpop artists and in the end ayumi lose grab of me ^_^

Umm yeah the reason why I started to love ayu the most, I'm sure somone stood up with a gun behind me and told me listen to her listen to her! she must be your favorite.

Stop trying to prove how bad is ayu and get over that people can actually like ayu. gosh.

As much as I like Namie by coming here and doing this, you make her look bad, but unlike you it doesn't mean I'm going to dislike her now, it doesn't worth it.
