Thoughts on COUNTDOWN LIVE 2007-2008 Anniversary

Well, the concert was a TV version, and those usually suck. Like woah.

It's just this time, it was worse because of a condition we had no idea about until later on. I remember a lot of people were 50/50 on CDL05-06's TV version too..

Whereas ASFXX, LOVEppears, Duty, I am... and RAINBOW all have different Ayu vocals..

in ASFXX, her vocal is pure and crisp and annoying (to some)

in LOVEppears, nothing much changed but there are more singing-technic used in her vocal...

in Duty, her vocal matured A LOT but still remains her high-pitch crisp vocal..

in I am..., similar to Duty but u can slightly tell that her vocal is slightly husky n deep but it's normal cuz u can't have the child-like voice when u are older...it's weird

then in RAINBOW, her vocal really went to the husky and deep type the most in her whole singing career even until now...also the same period of time her virbrato became the most obvious or most used...in a BIG way

even in A BALLADs, those re-recorded tracks in the album e.g Who..., YOU are disliked by my ex-ayumi forum ppl cuz it sounded so different and deep n coarse compared to the originals, it put them off

then u can tell the different in '&' and memorial address she started to get back her high-pitch vocal and sharper notes but she will always has the deeper key in her songs ever since..

for MY STORY, (m)u, Secret, GUILTY, it remained mostly the same unless she purposely used a different way of singing for one or two tracks in the album..

I don't know but when I watch a concert, of course I expect a good performance, vocally and choreographycally, by the artist. But in this CDL I'm dissapointed with ayu's vocal in some songs (like B&G, Humming, Ladies Night) but the rest are quite okay.
I'm just worried that "the off-key-ness" will continue to her AT 2008. I just hope she will improve her vocal.Just like ayu said, she would try her best. We should believe her.

yea i know that we're expecting a great performance with good vocal and choreography.. but she has tried her best right even though she has lost her hearing completely..her left ear's completely deaf now..so yea try to accept the fact then..she still did great on ASIA TOUR 2007 where we know from Ayu that she has lost all her left ear's hearing since 2007..

maybe a great loss of her friend, great loss of her 7th year relationship and even now, she has lost her hearing, but she is still cheering up even though she sang so badly..

then yea, we hope that she can do great at the upcoming ASIA TOUR 2008..

she has tried her best..
and we should know that she just lost her great great bestfriend, her 7th year relationship.. and now her hearing.. but she's cheering on~
then about her voice sounds so bad lately, that means that she's suffering inside but she keeps on smiling to people like she has nothing to worry about..

i think she still did great on CDL 07-08, she still has strength to do it all~
maybe by posting about her hearing problem in her team message, she indirectly wanted to apologize that she sang badly on CDL..
if she's not strong enough, i think she would just cancel her lives..
that's it, because she didn't want to disappoint her fans.. like what she did before for DOME TOUR.. she had her leg so hurt..but she kept doing it.. and she looked like she didn't hurt a bit..

if it was cancelled on the first place.. i think it would be much much more disappointing than just her vocally sounded bad~

e.g a VERY famous, well known, in business for decades, known in almost all chinese speaking countries, FANTASTIC male singer, Jacky Cheung 張學友..

he canceled one of his concert recently due to having a cold and can't give good performance to his fans...

so should we call him unprofessional (hell, he's in business for so long saying him unprofessional is like saying ayumi is a lesbian) or disappointment to the fans or that is the correct way a professional singer should do...

Lol you can't compare a cold with a permanent loss of hearing. You can postpone things because of a cold, because in less than 10 days, you'll be already better.

i think that's the problem...after he recovered from the cold...he can re hold the concert and give top notch performance again..

but for ayumi, it's a LIFE-TIME problem that cannot be cured in 10 days time...

then what is ayumi going to do if she have to give performances in her future that sounded like her CDL07-08 due to the problem... she has to find a way to fix the problem and not give similar problems in the rest of singing career..

but i can't say much until i see another live from her in the future, but i dun think there will be a tv version of it unlike CDL right? so can't really jugde from her DVDs...

My opinion is Ayu looked so cute in the CDL. I love her hair, she had such a nice smile, and despite her voice, she was still beaming. Still, I thought it lacked energy, especially by the time the countdown came. I thought her voice sounded strained in a number of songs (Surreal was pretty hard to take, but at least she laughed about it?). It wasn't as bad as some people have said. She just sounded sick or like she had a sore throat, but she still gave it her all.

Well, until her contract is up with avex, I have a feeling that she can't really do a lot with the situation. I mean, Ayu has good control over her career, but she still doesn't decide a lot of things.

I think maybe she can change the type of song she perform. Most of her ballads are pretty well done, try to re-tune older songs to fit newer vocals, and etc. Songs that are less damaging.

Or maybe future medical stuff can help. Hey, maybe given time, her ear would adapt.

ayu's doing her yearly count down live...since.. hmm... 2001, isn't it?
there are people want to celebrate new year's eve with Ayu..
it's like they want to party with AYu before New year..

where Jacky Cheung is just doing her normal concert tours.. not count down live with fans..and he doesn't do concerts oftenly like ayu does..every year..

Count down live is like a routine activity to celebrate New Year with the fans..
so how could she cancel?

then like i've said before.. CDL doesn't mean really a serious concert.. it's like a celebration big party..

and for this year's arena tour.. i read that she only do 19 stops in Japan..it has reduced the schedule, hasn't it??

The concert will most likely have dates added on to accomodate for more people.

Saitama Super Arena will most likely make an appearance, as it currently isn't in the schedule.


Yeah, not many other artists have done the CDL.. only like, Mai Kuraki and Johnny's Jimusho come to mind. I know there are others though..

Aha, I just figured out, it wasn't 2005 - 2006's countdown it was 2004 - 2005's one that I thought was bad. I have no idea why I kept thinking My Story was released in 2005 O_o. But, yeah. That was a pretty damn awful vocal performance. I remember deleting it immediately as soon as I got it. Oh, well. Heh.

The tour started for Memorial address very very early, with the CDL, and then went straight into the ARENA TOUR. So the setlists were about the same except like a few songs. :O

i think that there was the A MUSEUM so that ARENA TOUR 03-04 was made as the CDL as well..
so A MUSEUM as ARENA TOUR then ARENA TOUR 03-04 as CDL?

there's nothing we can do about it, it's all ayu's wish to keep on continuing..
if you want to ask ayu to do things that you want, then go send emails/mails to avex.. ask ayu to improve her voice..
