Ayu started out kinda bland in terms of covers and had these amazing images during her peak... and now that this is her what, 43rd single... I think we've just seen so much awesomeness from her that it's hard to please us again D;

As for covers that actually had themes:
LOVE ~destiny~
vogue
Far away
SEASONS
SURREAL
M
evolution
NEVER EVER
Endless sorrow
Free&Easy
I would add HEAVEN as well XD

HEAVEN imo was simple, but it definitely wasn't thematic at all. :p

Had there been two lovers on it wearing masks or something, then it'd be theme-y. :p

And when exactly is the Leslie Kee-era era? Could someone state from which albums or singles. haha I wanna see
Leslie Kee-era / her peak are somewhat synonymous. XD

She didn't always have Leslie do her singles [as he seemed to solely do album cover/booklet shots]~

There was another photographer who did all of her artsy stuff in 2001/2002.. Keita Haginiwa. He did covers like NEVER EVER and Endless sorrow.

Time to document her single covers by who did which~:

Toru Kumazawa:
Boys & Girls
kanariya
Fly high
Far away
SEASONS
SURREAL
AUDIENCE
M
evolution

Keita Haginiwa:
NEVER EVER
Endless sorrow
UNITE!
Dearest
H
Moments

Mitsuo Yamamoto:
Voyage

Leslie Kee:
Daybreak
&
INSPIRE
Startin'

Toru Kogure:
Free & Easy

Tadashi Ura:
[illustrator, aka painter of vogue's cover]

Me Company w/ Gregor McGregor:
forgiveness

Takashi Miezaki:
CAROLS

Kazuyoshi Shimomura:
STEP you
fairyland
talkin' 2 myself

ND CHOW:
HEAVEN
Bold&Delicious
BLUE BIRD
glitter

HIJIKA:
Together When..

Looks like we need Keita Haginiwa back.

It would be too obvious, ayu's half dark face looking up and on the other expressionless on the side pretty show the emotion-ess of HEAVEN imo =P it's like she's crying..
Basically it's simple yeah but still with a meaning.

Isn't she crying in the HEAVEN cover? To me it seems like she's praying for the departed in there

She's not crying, but her eyes are glassy.

They shot the cover on some white screen during the HEAVEN PV shoot. You can see them taking the photos during the making of.
