they have no idea who she is~
I'd try to introduce them to her music, but I've just come to understand it's useless -__- none of the people I know would ever take any interest in j-pop. No one thinks I'm lame for liking it, and they don't really have anything against japanese people or japanese music, but no one ever seems to be interested in it at all. Maybe because it's just easier to listen to what plays in the TV and in the radio? I dunno. But I've given up already, they couldn't care less about what I listen to.

that's sound so cool

but my classmate like esp the malays, they all listening to american music, esp those techno techno ( now most of them keep blasting Get Low of StepUp2 OST ) and sometimes is really quite annoying -.- ( can u imagine 4-6 person blasting the same song around the street or inside a BUS with FULL BLAST?! )
my classmate, hmm, i just transferred school due to shifting house. previously my classmate they won't tease about ayu and stuffs, they just okay okay with that. but now my current school, esp my seat mate ( the guy who sit beside me ) he don't like ayu at all, keep saying her !@#!@?% ;/
and even say she's a porn star ;0 !

^ omg thats so true. I've only had two person that didn't judge ayu harshly as a plastic barbie doll. Only one of my class mates actually knew who she was at the start of last yr (when i moved to my new school), she's doesn't listen to Ayu cause she only a Yamapi/Johnny's fan but I guess shes the only one that doesn't go ew her voice, ew her face ew omg i am so much better than her (in their minds). And the other person that didn't call her plastic, was a non asian asian that went wow she's really pretty...

Now the there's a few that just judge her like mad. One called me a plastic surgery person lover, cause she considers all asian artists to be plastic if they're the slightest bit pretty. One of my classmate's said she didn't like ayu's songs cause they sound tacky then just a few days ago she put on her msn name does anyone have ayumi hamasaki album's? acting as if she liked her from the start. She naively thinks i won't remember what she's said in the past year, but she's said she didn't like ayu, that high and mighty color are emo and she had never heard of the pillows at all...and then this year she suddenly changed saying she liked ayu, that haikara pawns and OMG I had no idea that you loved the pillows... FAKKKEEEE

I guess most of my class doesn't mind, they just know me as the one who loves ayu and japan. But there are quite a few people I don't like talking with them about her cause they pee me off like mad, and its bad cause I remember these kind of things forever...

I also hate letting people listen to my iPod, no one knows my music and when they say they do...I know that they don't cause my school likes to put up fronts as great big know it alls.

and you know I'm actually happy most of them don't like/know ayu cause then they can't act like know-it-alls, but I reckon they'd all be too shallow to ever understand the person behind the music anyway.

Haha, when I was in High School (1999-2004), it was Korn or nothing. Most of the 'appreciaters' are frauds anyway who wouldn't recognize an AC/DC song it you played it without telling them it was AC/DC

Most people (especially kids) are really narrow-minded when it comes to music and putting up a front. Most will 'hate' things at school that in reality they know nothing about and are interested in. I used to use Ayu, L'Arc and Gackt instrumentals in my visual art projects and ALWAYS got "Hey, that's a cool tune!"s from the same people who HATED asian music when they knew it was asian. How wierd!

Appreciate the fact that you at least have us to chat with about Ayu!!

^ haha I know Korn..they were on some old ep of South Park..and thats the only reason wh y i know them...

and its really true about that narrow-minded thing. Bu the funny thing is the ones that basically hate asian music are the asians themselves in my school, cause they want to act cool and white-washed. In my old school it was full of wogs and they all loved ayu's music and thought she was really gorgeous..my friend was staring at her pic all english class when i had to research people I admire...

depends on the people though, mostly everyone I know now are completely shallow narrowminded people..but I get used to it...

I'm pretty lucky then actually have friends who like Ayu. I don't know, not that Japanese culture is THAT big over here, but well, I know a lot of people who are in Jpop, or Jrock, or Jdoramas.

Some who don't would at least think she's pretty or hot or gorgeous, yay! Although, since my phone is 70% her songs, others are other japanese songs, people get annoyed. But that's good, they don't have to borrow my phone! lol!

However, certain people go:

"DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT THEY"RE TALKING ABOUT?!! Listen to some english songs, dammit! You're sooo outdated!"

I wish I can say, "do you actually expect eeeeveeeryyyooone to listen to Rihanna or Ciara or whatever names they have?!" (I honestly can't think of any other names lol)

They are just sooo annoying.

Yeah, honestly, I don't know what's in and what's not anymore in English songs, but whatever. I have Ayu to keep my company. ^^

My classmates know it and they accept it. They think it sounds cool!

But when I tell them that Japanese, Chinese and Korean sounds different they never belive me. For them it's always ''Chinese''.

I have a classmate who thinks Ayu is super hot when he saw her up-sized boobs in the GUILTY booklet... and that's all how he cares about...
