YES! I love her so freaking much it isn't even funny. She's pretty well-known in Japan though, especially in Akihabara. Her debut album had decent sales too. I think it was around 45k. They aren't great sales, but she did well for an idol.

I personally think Thelma has the best chance of being really successful though. Both Soba ni Iru ne and DIARY sold very well, so I'm excited to see what she does next. I think I read in an interview that she was going to take a break because of focusing on school though, which sucks

I think Alan, Satomi Takasugi (who is already slightly getting famous), and Nana Tanimura (she's doing so much better yay!). They all have potential IMO.

I really feel like most of the newcomers lately suck so bad. Stephanie is a hot mess, Aoyama Thelma is definitely going to be a 1 hit 1der, and ERIKA totally messed up her chances at becoming a star with her attitude... maybe Alan can do well. I really like her.

OMGOSH I think Aoyama Thelma will just be a one hit wonder too >< I'm not trying to bash her but I just don't see her getting any more popular than she already is. Just my opinion XD I might be wrong and she might become the next like Madonna XD lol ~! That would be a shocker @_@ !

Maybe we will be eating our words in a few months when she has some massive second single, but I doubt it

Kanon Wakeshima: Still Doll is an amazing song, so different as well, plus the Vampire Knight tie-in can't do any harm.

ayaka's first single was released in February of 2006. I don't really see how she's a beginner anymore. But yeah, she certainly has become successful.

The thing is, Ayumi, Namie, and Utada all debuted really well. Although Ayumi's singles took a while to climb up the charts, all three had #1 debut albums and garnered a lot of attention pretty much from the start. So far, there hasn't been another female artist that received the amount of sales and attention they did. Since they're currently dominating the charts, it's tough for a newcomer to squeeze in and steal some spotlight. My guess is that there won't be another female artist like them for several years. Of course, Koda Kumi's career started out weak, and look what's happening now.

Anyhow, I think the next diva-machine will come from Avex. They've got a monopoly on them.

I think Anna Tsuchiya can easily rival ayumi , style wise .

Cos everytime I see Anna , she spots a new look which's completely different from the last time I saw her . She can almost carry anylook possible .

Music wise , I think she's really under-rated . I just wish avex would have done more promotion for her after her NANA works .

Like for starters , Crazy World's hawt !

To be honest, none at the current moment. I can see some of the mentioned above getting a moderate success (say, Otsuka Ai success), but the big success of Hikki, Ayu, and post 2005 Koda Kumi? Not currently right now. At least I think it would take another one or two years, wait for Kuu's to past her crazy peak.

I would definitely like Kanon Wakeshima to make it big. Still Doll was amazing, but her music isn't that mainstream and I'm not sure how the public can reply to that. Few years ago I would say Yuna Ito but her popularity is solely dependent on the type of tie-ins she get.
