Ayu different on stage??

Have you guys noticed a change in Ayu's performance style?

Back in the day, she seemed flawless and all smiles or totally serious on stage while performing with ease but now...

I saw her in concert June 29th 2008 at Yoyogi and she seemed so... aggresive...

and when I got home and watched my 07-08 CDL DVD, I saw the same aggresiveness.

Do you guys see it?

I think it is because losing her friend last year was another big blow to her. She's been through so much already in her 28 years. So she seems to be fighting just to make it through her concerts. Not that she doesn't want to do them but didn't she say that her friend was really looking forward to CDL?

I'm not bashing her performing now. I was just wondering if anyone else saw the difference...?

She doesn't say "Come on!" anymore for the wow yeah part of evolution. I think also her recent songs are more rock-ish, hence the aggression. I don't think ayu would bring her personal experiences into concerts. After all, it's a show.

OK, she DOES say Come on!!! during the new AT08 evolution. The others were very likely lip synched, in which case she can't do that. Further more she has a lot of rock songs lately, as well as a standard GAME~my name's WOMEN-ish session, which obviously has some form of "I'ma take you on!!"-thing going on. But aggression? No waaay.. Her ballads and happy songs aren't aggressive at all.. She's just rocking it.

i think the songs are more rockish and she want to get into the mood..but i have noticed something...like MY ALL is a really happy song..but whenever i listen to it, ayu doesn't seem to be really happy singing MY ALL, like she's forcing

Probably because it's an emotional song for her, which is seen live, but the studio version had to sound happy and not sad.

During evolution, Boys & Girls and glitter in CDL 0708 anniversary,

i feel that ayu is gonna break down any time sooner.. ayu is just not energetic anymore.. Like she is performing with a mask on.

Well not sure if any other pple feel the same way too.. but this is how i feel.

Not energetic? Her recent tours have a ton of choreography and energy, and the AT08 perf of evolution is really powerful. I did get the feeling that she was kinda tired during CDL0708. but what do you want when your best friend just commited suicide >_>;

i somehow think ayu is making up for her sorrow in work, she's been all over the place this year...going to HK for photo shoots, AT08, around asia, idk about CDL, but maybe...i think ayu will be more energetic next year, when she can maybe rest a little...if you had a schedule like ayu's, do you think you will still be happy and jumping all over the place

that's because its not her kind of songs any more.
Her songs are like talkin'2 myself, GUILTY, decision, Marionette, (don't) leave me alone, fated, Together when etc.

More rockish songs with more pain are her. I love CDL perfomance and she looks natural perfoming some songs, and some other songs she just perfomin, but she isn't aggresive, or with mask.
Her songs like Mirrorcle World or Life.. you will see this king of songs in her future releases.

and what about MY ALL.. she was happy performing it(in CDL and AT08 in NEWS Clips), she was just filled by emotions, not like warm and calm Who...
This changes started from MY STORY era as for me. Just her friend death made a scar in her heart wich must be healed by time, and by her music

I still think ya guys are just seeing things. =p Her music style changed and she's matured more..of course her performances are going to be different. It's like when you're 7 you aren't emberassed of playing with LEGO but when you're 18 you will probably be if you still do. Maybe you're seeing this with her old happy songs (though I really dont =p) but of course not literally with emberassment.

I don't think Ayu's ever.. EVER lipsynched evolution.

And I don't think she's really that aggressive. She's pretty much the same nowadays with less stand-still gowns.

I have a strong suspicion she L-Sed evolution during Best of CDL but a friend was talking about how sometimes they play the track instead of live music for DVD releases because the audience is simply too LOUD so... I mean otherwise she's not breathing for the chorus lines and her lips are moving out of sync. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt though.

Melrose, have you watched AT08 live? Maybe there was feedback to bring the come ons back... She did not say come on during Best of and the current CDL and AT07.

I thought MY ALL was fine. She was even poking fun and making life difficult for her dancer before. I'm sure she's ok. During the MC session, she mentioned that RAINBOW made her feel a strong connectedness amongst the audience and herself. Maybe she was performing evolution and B&G in that zen mode that made some of you feel it's less energetic? Oh well...

well, ayu is (unfortunately) for the most part jrocknowadays, of course the attitude is different then. but her summersongs are very bubbly and poppy.

as for energy, she's doing more for her tours than she did years ago, she dances very much now, and there are screens and whatnot... if anything, she'S doing too much. and when you see the making offs you get a taste of how much a perfectionist she is.

as for my all: she always cries when singing the last song, no matter -which- song it is ;D she's so emoional, because the last song also means goodbye. and because she cries, she has to force hersef to get the song across as decently as possible.

Haha? CDL07-08 is definitely lip-synched. CDL06-07 and AT07 sound VERY lipsynched too (compared to AT08, where she obviously isn't lipsynching because she's singing her !@#$ out). You can be nitpicky and say that she has a "reaaaally loud backvocal track!!" but you know what I mean. Compare AT08's evolution to AT07's and you'll obviously see the difference in terms of sound -and- visuals (how she sings, etc.). Idc how much they edit the DVD's audio, you can still see the difference in how she sings between live and lip-synched. Or just check out the TV version's audio. You don't see her doing the cha-cha-cha leg 90 degrees up in the air-thing from AT07 when she sings it 100% live. =p

I find it quite logical she does it with that song, though. It's a difficult and tiresome song to sing. I'm glad she did it live for AT08 and AT05~~. (havent seen AT06) Also not shouting "COME ON!!" is usually a sign that the song isn't being live. (again, not always)

@sitara: Hmm it's what I read on the forum and assumed from the lyrics ("The day you decided to walk alone" -- you decide to commit suicide, not have a heart attack ) ^___^

Well, ask the people who saw her live about her singing..

I dunno why you're so "OMG AYU LIPSYNCHED" especially when the DVDs are heavily touched-up/balanced in terms of audio, and that's basically all you have to analyze. It's like, ew. It really disgusts me that you automatically think that she lipsynchs it for basically no reason whatsoever other than "She didn't say "Come on!" this time"... eh, whatever. It's not as though what you say is true anyway.

I only have one AT07 news clip [there probably were more, but people really didn't seem to care.. and the evolution performance is also on tudou], and all the songs are pretty live-sounding in it.

Extremely live. The audience is also extremely pumped. EXTREMELY!!!! Like seriously. She even does that "GO LADIES~~~" and "HERE WE GO!" thing. Even an "IKUYOOOO!!~" Watch the AT07 Tudou streams if you need any proof that Ayu is a live singer or not..

I don't think ayu's really different... maybe just less screamings to the crowds (Which is better for the performance to look more proffessional) but she still smiles and happy and cute in some parts!

Ayumi never lip-synched evolution. Actually she never did during a concert.

You should compare the TV versions to the DVD versions, they're less touched up.

Well, it's easy to notice when Ayumi is lip-synching and I mean, there's really no question about it when she does. Take a look at the Ayumi lip-synching thread I made a few years ago, you'll get the point.

There are the TV versions of the CDLs. And in the BEST of CDL, her voice in evolution is flawless in the TV version, and I think that's impossible for anyone, considering the coreography and all.

And I think she changed as well.. She's been around for a long time, it would be strange if she was exactly the same as 2002, for example o.o It's good to see how she's evolving, being better for ones and worse for others.
