Oh, not at all. You are entitled to your opinion

And I'm not trying to be Madonna's lawyer here or something; I'm just saying that because she's been in the business for so long, it's pretty common to see her influence here and there, even overseas.

As for what Madonna did and didn't do, and how "cheap" her career has been, I don't know the whole story and really, neither do you. So I don't think either of us can speak on that.

@Melrose
Sorry, I would lie if i gave you a quote of Ayu saying that, but I know she has declared to like Madonna many times.
And I agree with Namiie. A clear example of Ayu inspired by Madonna (not copying her) is her Arena Tour 2002, as part of the costumes and choreographies are similar or somehow theme-related to Madonna's Drowned World Tour 2001, for example... And I don't want to sound agressive, but if you don't believe me you can always watch both concerts too see the similarities.

@namiie: Actually lol I saw a 5 minute backstage thingy of her talking about her tour and she said that she didn't care about the people's opinion and how they wanted to sue her because she offended them. (She said this to some agent guy...) I think this was on her Like a Virgin tour about the bed performance. So.. I don't really need to know the entire story to think that she's used cheap tricks for publicity. And even if it wasn't for publicity, I'd never ever see Ayu pull off such stunts (which is why I'm a fan of Ayu's lol).

But yar, I'll stop posting now as I don't think I can add anything else to my case without going COMPLETELY off-topic. I just get annoyed when people yell around Ayu's copying Madonna or getting "inspiration" (note: being "inspired" by someone who wears a red dress, to wear a similar red dress yourself is copying and not being "inspired". Being "inspired" would be if Madonna's red dress idea was changed into something very different, like the bad guys on the Mirrorcle World PV wearing red costumes or something. So imo it's either she copied it, or she didn't copy.) But let's be realistic, it's not like Ayu's (or rather, her DESIGNERS, unless you believe that around her tours, singles, promotion and video's she actually has time to design huge dresses) going to intentionally try to avoid every similarity between her and other artists. They have better things to do than that.

It would be fun to next time make a list of all the things that Ayu has done and have no similarities with Madonna. Something tells me the non-similar things are a lot less similar to Madonna than the similar things are similar to Madonna.

@ ^: And you don't sound aggressive! I hope I don't sound so either. :] I can't watch a Madonna concert (no idea where I'd get it from anyways), so I'll Google it up.

Okay, I see Naturally WAS copied (I'm not that ignorant to think it's not copied.) Does anyone know what song she did for that Naturally-clone? I'm interested in watching it on YouTube.

However, the question (and I don't want to sound like a total Ayu obsessed freak here, but seriously) remains if Ayu copied Madonna or not. If Ayu really does like Madonna, it seems likely to me that Ayu simply wanted to do some Madonna stuff because she thinks it's awesome. This is pretty much the whole reason behind dressing up as your favorite characters.

But dam, my respect for the Naturally performance just went down a notch.

Good to know no one is mad or sth here... We're just pointing out our opinions about the red dress matter, and we CAN go off topic, because, how many more things you can say about whether the dresses are similar or not?

Anyway, do you mean the Naturally performance was taken from a previous Madonna performance? If so, it must be Impressive Instant

Yea, I saw some pics of an EXACT same outfit.

I just watched Impressive Instant but the skirt is actually not red, like AT02. The fog is kinda the same... But imo AT02's is better, just because Madonna managed to turn yet another song into a sexfest. @_@ Wasn't there a performance in that concert that was like I am...?

But yea, Naturally is a clear case of Maodnna inspiration. Like, it's kinda the same theme-ish, but Ayu made it quite different. : >

Well, to be honest, I prefer Impressive Instant over Naturally, but it's a matter of opinions . Both tours have pretty similar segments.

Take a look at this and compare them completely:
Madonna's: http://www.madonnalicious.com/gallery2001dwt.html
Ayu's http://eneabba.net/ayu/video/live/6.arenatour2002.htm

Such similar elements!

Naturally theme & skirt.
Black hair & costume for I am.../Frozen (though I must say Ayu's costume is a LOT better..)
Flying kungfu fighter (think Ayu's looks better again =/)

Other than that nothing. :33 The inspiration is there, though.

you know...if everyone were so worried about wearing the same thing as someone else, we might as well never go out the door
just because a dress that is red, and another dress that is red mean that they're copying
madonna have been in the business for quite some time, so it's ok to see some designer getting inspiration, or just by some random chance, they make the same thing. i don't think ayu goes around checking everything that people have wore in the past to avoid wearing the same thing~
i consider madonna's dress as a regular salsa/tango/flamenco dress, so that means other dancers are copying madonna? so the mv is spanish-influenced
ayu's dress is kinda european, and she's in france, so maybe a little Marie influence~ these dresses are not copying each other, they're what i think to be remakes of dresses in the 1800's or something!

madonna for her tour, wears it like a vampire
ayu for her concert, wears it like a modern kimono

Well, Ayu's costumes are better... And the Evolution-Audience-Unite! costume reminds me to Madonna's last costume too... But i'm not accusing her of copy Madonna, just say haha

I think the age gap is more than enough to prove that ayu's dress was not inspired on Madonna's. Who the heck would be watching La Isla Bonita just NOW to decide and make a simillar dress to ayu? Also if madonna appears on jeans, and later ayu appears on jeans, how can you even imply or prove one got inspired by the other, I mean, jeans is just a common regular type of cloth, the same apply to that dress, it's a well known type of dress, which was definitely not created by madonna or first used by her. That was nothing but coincidence that the types of dresses are kinda simillar.

^

Yea, I agree. Though the choreography on Frozen is better than I am... imo. I thought I am... was a little boring.

I'm not seeing the last costume though. Other than the black hat.

And yar, agree with pommy :3 And with ImpactBreaker, as I said most of that stuff ^^

I wonder who in God's name decided to use Drowned 2001 elements in AT02, though. That's like, pretty lame. XD Unless it was meant in a "look i'm madonna i r cool!!!" way. OR, maybe as a kind of.. thing like.. "Look we're both really famous and we have a similar tour!" I like that last one. XD

Well, I like Frozen more than I Am... in the show, I think the problem with I Am... is that it's a very boring song to open the show. She could have started it with anything else...

Agreed.

Though I loved HAPPY ENDING was intro song for AT05. It just really set the mood for the concert. AT02 was like "lol listen at this boring choreographyless song for 5 and a half minutes while I stand still in a Madonna-esque outfit ;D"

These days you can't really say anything is original anymore, something is somehow going to be inspired by something else in some way

Yea.. plus, did madonna invent flamenco? If anything, they both drew inspiration from that.

Dude Ayu is coping herself xD; I've never seen AT 02 at ALL and I swear it feels like I've seen the outfits and stage props in another concert!

1. The cage in NEVER EVER
2. Karate in A Song for XX
3. Big hair shiny clothes sitting on a ring in Free & Easy
4. Top hat and suit in Evolution!!! <--- for this one I swore she wore that for Until that day...

Am I going crazy or something? xD;
