I really took a liking to both "real Emotion" and "1000 no Kotoba" when I first heard them. I have always liked Kumi, and I felt that these were two of her better tracks (with "1000 no Kotoba" being my favorite song from her thus far).
Before playing the US release of FFX-2, I had not heard the Jade versions of the songs. I was not sure what to expect from them. After seeing the game's intro, I didn't think the english version of "real Emotion" was neither significantly better nor worse than the Japanese one. I will give the nod to the Kumi version, in this case.
In regards to "1000 no Kotoba/Words", after experiencing the CG firsthand, and seeing how the song worked, I have to say I prefer the Jade one. Same goes for the orchestral version. Is this to say that Jade is better than Kumi? No, but actually seeing and hearing these songs in context really affects my opinion of them.
