I was quite surprised when forgiveness sold only 100K on the first week, and my brother (at that time) thought she could retired anytime soon. Looking back, 2003 was the year that ayu's sales had "obvious" decrease. From a almost 2 million RAINBOW to a not selling A BALLADS (well yeah consider that era), and & sold only around 330 - 360K on the first week compared to H (over 500K), then a horrible selling forgiveness. Even tho it seems like No way to say's sale was pretty decent, in fact it was half of Voyage's sales.

Back to the topic. So far the sales are:

1 浜崎あゆみ 69368
2? モーニング娘。 45872
3? B'z 46767

Right now we don't really know the exact sales right now (the multiple is around 1.00 - 1.03), but I'm pretty sure ayu will maintain no. 1 for the week, while B'z will beat momosu in the end.
But then I don't think people should compare special concepted bests to normal bests. The normal bests always do way better (ayu's A BEST & A BEST 2 project, A COMPLETE ~ALL SINGLES~ (it sold less in 71,000 but it was released last year)> A BALLADS, kuu's BEST ~first things~ & ~second session~ > kuu's BEST B&L & Out Works & Collaborations Best, Namie's 181920 & BEST FICTION > Love Enhanced Single Collection).
That only might work with strategies like EXILE had.
Though after that she had a mini album with just 8 songs selling a million so it was a great seller and then MY STORY that sold even more. =D

And I agree that ayu will maintain her drop.
On the day B'z were #4 they were behind Gackt that sold around 13,800 so they couldn't sell over it, if for example they did 13,500 then they still can't outsell ayu even if on today's charts they sell 6,000 and ayu sell 1,000.

Digital download wise though he seems to be doing better than he usually does (at least with the kamen rider songs) since I don't really remember ever seeing him much in the digital rankings.
Yeah that's pretty much it, the only songs that did well digitally were the Kamen Riders ones.

It seems the only drama that got good ratings while using one of her songs was the one that used Love Destiny I think. Not that Ayu's song is at fault of course, but it may start getting looked at as bad luck or something.
I don't think the song can actually murder the ratings that much (even ERIKA's Destination Nowhere didn't stop people from watching Mop Girl which had quite decent ratings), the drama isn't really anything special and lacks what seems to be the most important factor that dramas with high ratings have - hot male actors. I don't think she is the only singer who had the "luck" to do a theme song for a flop drama, but I get what you're saying.

#3 - 5327

Momosu got their #1 daily with 8k, but that's not gonna help them, cuz it's over. And we have another #1 with 74 725 copies sold.

See how the impact a hand shaking event can do? LOL. But I think Momosu should have done this event a few days earlier. It does help them to get over 8000 copies today (and probly beating B'z to get weekly no. 2), but probly they would have greater boost if they did that earlier...

So at the end they did a hand shake event!? lol...

But wouldn't it add to their sales the same number (or maybe slightly higher) like today if they would do it earlier?

What's a handshake event???

Anyway, down to #3 today... Most likely it might linger around Top 10 for the next week I guess.

P.S: Thanks SunshineSlayer!

And the streak continues!!! Even though I know she's still doing well, the sales are kind of frightening! I guess this is the new norm for single sales! Congratulations Ayu

I'm happy for Ayu!
Even if this is her last #1 single, at least she made it this far!

Well you get there (usually in a store) and get to shake hands with the band members if you purchase cd(s).

Well, they're having like 5 handshake events in the span of one week.

These tend to raise sales for a few days when it comes to Hello!Project.
