Okay, but why are we receiving criticisms about Arashi at this point on about all the songs here? (Along with those potential troubles about Ayu's voice that we are talking about separately in Ayu's thread...) I mean, what's the point - why are we really receiving more negativity with Arashi?

i think it's natural to assess an artist's work, especially over time. some view things negatively, others think positively. i've been in the JE fandom since 2005 (i've known about Arashi since late 2004 perhaps) & i think Arashi's changed a lot musically since then. i've always thought Arashi was a pop group, but they had some roots in hip-hop & rock. that was what i liked them for. i think because they are appealing towards the more mainstream, they're losing that factor that made me like them as musicians in the first place. and this is just an observation, but i do think there is a divide between the older/newer fanbase. like, no one talks about "HOW'S IT GOING?" but whenever "Time/Dream'A'live" or "WISH/Love so sweet/One Love" comes up, everyone talks about it.

i'm sure there's a lot of people that love Arashi's current music (like my dear Lisa here, hehe). but me? i'm glad they are successful and i know they're great guys (i love whatever acting adventure Nino takes part in), but i just rather listen to their older material. that's all. just a personal opinion.

in recent times no thanks to BREAKERZ's influence in a way or 2 xD , I find myself listening to their older works a lot more than their recent ones

I think I can say that I listen to the 1st disc of All the BEST ! a lot more than the other 2 discs that I have & it all boils down to personal preference at the end of the day

rock's my fave music genre but I do like to listen to pop here & there which depends on my mood

I really like those An An shoots, but I like them more if it is a guy + a female model. I also prefer non-JE guys with these shoots. Mukai Osamu for example or Hiroki Narimiya. They have really nice shoots. I think Sho is kind of wiry. Don't know how to describe it, but his body seems like it's hard and won't give in. No softness here. But I think Sho is the most popular guy in Arashi so he doesn't need me as a fan. haha.

Yes, I don't think it's wrong to say what you don't like about an Artist, be it Arashi or Ayu or some other artists. That's what the discussion is for. It's not to put them down, I think, if people wouldn't like Arashi they would not come to this thread and talk about them and share their opininion. For me, personally, I'm generally speaking not a big fan of Arashis music. Be it their older material or their newer stuff. I'm also aware of their existence since around 2003 (when I watched Kimi wa petto) to 2004, when PIKA★★NCHI DOUBLE was released. But since their music never really made me interested in them I wouldn't count myself a fan especially back then.

I like Arashi for their acting and their TV-Shows. And I think that's alright, they are idols and while music is important it is not as important for them as for people that only do music, like Ayu for example. They are more entertainers to me than musicians. I also don't think their singing abilities are that good. But I don't want to generalize. Some have some have better voices and others just don't. It's not their fault, I think when they talk about these infamous Johnnys auditions it's always about dancing and being picked. And being able to do everything top-notch from acting to singing to hosting TV shows and and and....it's impossible. So the music they release, it's no surprise that it seems average, like SunshineSlayer wrote, they choose the middle way, but that doesn't surprise me in the slightest. It works obviously, and I think we have another very safe high selling number one here.
