Wasn't UNIVERSE a best album + studio album package? If so, I don't think it would be fair to compare UNIVERSE's sales with Rock'n'Roll Circus.

Oh and by the way, some of you need to seriously get a life. That is all.

these are best albums..they shouldn't be used to compare rock'n'roll circus

i wonder how long it will take OR when for oricon to implement digital downloads (chaku-uta, recochoku, itunes) onto single/album/dvd sales..i know billboard in U.S mixes physical & digital sales together

Kuu's sales are also considered pretty good, but UNIVERSE has only sold about 350k, I believe. -_- Oh, and Kaela Kimura isn't as big as those three, but her best album sold 'wonderfully', at about 400k, if I remember correctly. And considering Rock'n'Roll Circus is already in the top 25 for the year, well.....
I always thought there were more than just AyuKuuMie (my pet name for the Goddess Trio lol). Whatever happened to AI?!

Ah, thanks! This is what I was looking for! I don't know some of these people but now it does look like Ayu is doing well compared to others.

You know, I was genuinely a bit surprised when UNIVERSE didn't sell. Setting aside my personal feelings ( I think it sucks, sorry ) and the fact that Kumi has several other best albums previous to this one, I thought it would still do much better than it has been. Yes, the sales are great so far but a best plus an original studio album just seems like a great package to me. If Ayu were to do the same for her 15th or 20th, you better believe I would blow all my money on it.

"Ai"..? You mean Ai Otsuka, I assume (since AI, sadly, has never been a big seller)? Nobody knows what the hell happened to her, lol.
Also, a lot of those names aren't solos, they're groups. And like somebody else mentioned, a few are also bests. So take that into consideration, too.
And damn, I forgot to mention aiko! >_<' She's the only other solo worth mentioning, really...

It's nice to see Ayu on #1 and all but I don't see what the big deal is.. Imo the most important is that she's still singing and she's still active. She's my favorite singer and not only that.. her as a person, her sales really means nothing to me. As long as she's famous to me she's famous forever.
Also, like many has mentioned... Japanese is more digital now... they LOVE their phones and they will buy from iTunes/mu-mo it's just been more popular thing now in Japan to buy songs digitally instead of the physical CDs. I would say unless they are really hardcore fans that they probably won't buy the CDs... I buy CDs and even if I could get from mu-mo or iTunes I'd rather have the CD b/c I'm just like that... I like having her poster and photobooks haha now if I didn't care about those.. I'd be like the rest and buy digitally LOL

btw.. I used to not like RnR album.. now I love it.. well basically these three songs.. count down, last links and meaning of love

Hmm. Strange that's its yet to be certified after 4 months; maybe then its not the hit its appears to be.
JUJU's physical sales are tragic. Isn't she the Chaku Uta monster?
I'm going to pray for some Avex magic for the weekend sales.

The Meaning of Us will probably make a bit of a dent in the yearly charts if it keeps ranking the way it does for the rest of the year.

(Ayu's Days PV was on the chaku movie chart basically from December 2008 to December 2009... #1 in the chaku movie category! Haha. I wish we could see how much it sold...)

Not to be mean or anything but ayu will never release another "Duty", "I am..." or whatever album you like best. Just like us, ayu grows & changes over the years. She can't be stuck in the same era forever. So I think the most you can hope for is ayu to release a new album that you'll love as much as your favorite ones.

^That's true, ayu is growing and changing, her music is not the same (but i like it year by year), and
I wonder if the new album of YUI can sells more than RnRC. her last singles sells more than 100k

cos her last album I LOVED YESTERDAY did not sold as well as CAN'T BUY MY LOVE

then again I LOVED YESTERDAY was released some 2 years back so anything goes & the CD + DVD's of her singles which're deemed limited editions are always out of print pretty fast on online sites

like for to Mother , the CD + DVD's already out of print on CDJapan when I checked last night

YUI!!! That's the other girl I forgot about! She's definitely making a come back I hear. But I guess 100k-200k is the new norm now.

Btw, Ayu's doing very well digitally. Does iTunes release the figures on how many copies were downloaded? Of the whole album I mean, it has to be at least 8 or more tracks no?

Yeah I'm unsure if this album will ever fully "grow" on me. I think after my first listen, I've grown to like it less and less. It's like, if it weren't by Ayu, I wouldn't like it at all. It's just my fandom giving it a chance.

Seriously, at this point I am actually contemplating my idea of boycotting Ayu for an entire year. By boycott I mean, not listening to any of the singles this next year. No previews either. No PV shoots as well. That way when the next album arrives, I'll have ALL NEW MATERIAL! It would be one hell of a project and I'm curious to actually try it out!

Another thing that really effects the way people rank albums is weather or not they heard the singles prior to the album... Like if some people just discovered Ayu and then went back and downloaded albums, their opinions and the effect the album would have on them would be completely different than the rest. I used to think I was disappointed in (miss)understood, but as time has gone by I begin to view the album as a whole, singles and all.

But didn't you do this for the Rock'n'Roll Circus album as a whole... and it backfired? -blinks-

is not like everyone was gonna love the album anyway

GUILTY was hated and loved at the same time... same thing happened with NEXT LEVEL, and with all albums too

so I'm even more excited now, seeing all the good feedback from RnRC as well as the negative ones, because yeah, I'm one of the ones that haven't listened to the album xD I will get my copy on monday (hopefully) *o*

That means you have to eliminate AHS as well (at least the ayu section) for the rest of the year. It'll be so hard not to download anything from ayu for a single year if you keep on visiting this forum .

I will not do that, at least not till I've download the full version of MOON lol . I have higher expectation for this song since it's composed by the same person who did ASfxx . Hopefully I won't be disappointed .

Actually there was a period where almost everyone (like 99% of the ayu nation) loved every single material ayu released... That was around LOVEppears/Duty/I am... period.

ugh I was trying to emphasize more on her latest works but okay xD I mean there's no way we could even think on comparing her latest albums/singles/etc with what she was doing back then.

And you could think everyone loves those albums, but there's people out there in the universe that hates them so much xD and that surprised me.
