Really interesting. The era before ero-kakkoi sounds like a tough period for her >< I can totally grasp the feeling of pride and happiness when your single enters in the top 10, and then the feeling of shock and sadness when your next single just isn't successful at all. Wow, I'm surprised so many people love her legs... That's what kills it for me. Her legs are.....chunky, in a really weird way, and they're so stubby. XD Plus, she has no waist--dunno where some of you are getting "curvy", since she's a pear shape and has no top or bottom. :\ I guess because she does have a good stylist (she's often dressed in ways that exaggerates her features), so sometimes it does look like she has a nice body... I sound like such a hater, lol. :X You guys know I love Kuu, though....Just not her body. ^^'

Yeah, I know Japanese girls aren't as busty or anything, but neither is Kuu. And even though her hips are kinda big, she has one of the flattest asses I've ever seen, so it doesn't count. XP Also, when you're as thin as Kuu is, especially on top, you often have a pretty good waist to show for it, but she doesn't. Honestly, she's average, for any girl of any race. Like I said, she does often play it up a bit with her clothes, though, and the fact that she's so confident helps a lot. Really, if she didn't have the sexy image, and if she had a different image and style - maybe like, say, Mika Nakashima - you guys wouldn't find her body as attractive. But because she flaunts herself like she does have an amazing body, it gives the illusion that at least something above average is there. She plays her cards right... Having said all that negative stuff, though, lol, I must say, the fact that she can fool so many people is amazing. I would kill to have that much self-confidence. It gives a woman a whole new kind of beauty, something that you can't have with even the best body in the world.

She is self confident, but I still think she has an awesome body, especially her legs, not as thin as most japanese woman have. Just compare her with her dancers; you can take every live you want, for example a-nation 2009 - you can totally see the difference in her body shape. You said it yourself, her legs are kind of chubby, bigger as most japanese woman. It's not just a good marketing strategy.

Nonono, I wasn't saying you're fools or anything! I said she does a good job of fooling people, hah. At a simple glance, Kuu seems like a goddess in her beauty, both her face and her body. But really, looking on the street, you can immediately find girls with better behinds, at the very least. And her legs... Well, like you said, it's just taste, with that, hah. Personally, I find dancer's legs not good looking at all, and Kuu's are even thicker than a lot of dancers I've seen, probably 'cause they're so short. >_> But I guess I can see why somebody might be attracted to that. For me, I just don't find legs like that very feminine, so that's why I don't think it looks good. But if that's your thing, then yes, Kuu certainly has amazing legs. XP

But the sexy image wouldn't work with Kuu, if she hadn't a body like that. It's funny that you said she "fools" people with her beauty etc, but as far as I remember the japanese public doesn't consider her a classic beauty with her facial features or even more than average. So the strategy doesn't work? It's her body that takes the cake, her body and her great charisma. It's different, not typical japanese. But yes, in the end it's all about taste.^^

seriously ag, those kind of legs not feminine?? XD for me, her legs may be a bit thick (seriously, a bit.) but they're shapely and curvy and i think that's feminine. i mean, i prefer it way more to straight up stick legs as corvina said and stick body but thats just me. she looks gorgeous in heels & mini dresses & skirts.

though of course i agree she isnt PERFECT. but still awesome. she could do with some more boobs and bum but hey, who does have a perfect body

I didn't mean to offend you or anything. What I meant was, if you take her body measurements alone, they are extremely average. But then, also, if you look at, say, her butt, and then look at ten other random butts (), hers is very shapeless. Therefore, it is below average.....unless you like flat butts. But, of course, the average person does not like a flat booty, so, therefore, it is still considered below average.
Everybody has their own tastes, certainly, but I'm talking about people as an average. And I can guarantee that even we nobodies could stand next to Kumi naked, and a good portion of us would look better.
And I'm not saying you're a fool for liking her body, or even that you are fooled into your tastes. I'm just saying, she really plays up her body, so even for people that wouldn't normally like, say, her dancer's legs or small chest, it will appear to them that she is more than what she really is. And that's fine.... Honestly, all women do this, at least a bit. XD Just, Kumi does it VERY well. She takes average and below average features and makes them look incredibly sexy.

See, the way I see it, she was an average-looking nobody, at the most....until she caught her breakthrough. That's when she started playing up the sexy image even more than before, so between that and her new fame, she was now "hot". But yeah, the fact that it took several pushes through the door before anybody thought she looked good at all, I think that actually proves she's nothing amazing under the makeup, the specially made clothing, and, of course, the fame. But then again, most celebrities are like that, right? Only, with Kumi, it's hard to believe that, because she's a sex symbol.
I also have to disagree that she has the sexy image because of her body. ANYBODY can have a sexy image, so long as they're famous. That's half of what makes a person so sexy, usually. For example, take hitomi. She's also pretty average, and she doesn't even have a sultry voice like Kumi does. Yet, she was a huge sex symbol. Also, Ringo Shiina was known for a sexual image, even though...well, let's face it, she's not the most attractive woman. Those two women, along with Kumi, are only sexy because that's how they present themselves. It's all about personality and image.


...Sorry to keep that going. I just wanted to clear up the fact that I wasn't trying to say anybody's tastes are wrong or anything. (People here misunderstand me a lot...)

She does do a good job at fooling people, or at least making herself seem better than she is...because she really does have average features...but I don't think it really is that big a deal, since for her frame, and for her genetics, she's extremely fit, and quite above average in that way I think...which imo counts for a lot, since so many people really aren't.

I think that her fitness is what really makes her body look better than most people's, and also makes it looks like she has more of a shape.

I think she's above average, but that's just me, because I personally think most average people look like crap lol so...meh lol
