anyone who thinks that Ayumi's PVs have gone down hill should go and watch Angels Song, To Be, and Bold & Delicious and then get back to me.

Been on decline for me ever since the PVs for the Next Level album tracks....The Days PV was great...the GREEN PV was ok....Sparkle and Rule were pretty solid.....everything else just sort of wilted from there.

Some PVs just aren't to my tastes, no matter what album they are from. I think they became a little more visually shallow, but MOON was beautifully done and You Were... was wonderful too. I do like a lot of recent PVs and a lot of old ones. It just all depends on taste. Some people will find MOON and You Were... boring but I loved the production, filming, settings, colours etc

i was thinking...MY problem with ayumi's PVs of late is that my expectations are too high. perhaps other fans suffer from the same.

what i mean is that i'm often a little disappointed after watching a new PV, but they almost always grow on me and soon enough i love them. i remember when i first watched you were... i thought it was ok, but it quickly grew on me and i loved it. i guess i think of what i'd like to see and then i feel disappointed that ayumi didn't do this or that in her PV, but once i watch it a couple of times i end up loving it.

thats just my two cents.

except angels song...i still hate that PV. and sunrise/sunset...those are dreaful.

Imo a good pv doesn't have to have cheesy storylines or some plot or be super interesting to be good. Someitmes pvs like moon are just looking at this gorgeous piece of beautiful art. And DLB may be boring. But it has meaning. And she was able to portray that in a more subtle way. Classier
Ayu may not always be aiming for excitement etc

Anyhow I can't say they've declined. And I'm not a biased old fans who usually sees anything that is older ayu as much better
I got to see most of the pvs 2008-1998 at once
So my opinion:

For my dear
Trust
Depend on you
Appears
Boy & girls
Love ~destiny~
To be
Vogue~far away~seasons
Daybreak
Dearest
Voyage
Carols
Humming 7/4
Pride
Born to be
Blue bird
Glitter
Decision
Next level
Curtain call
Sunrise ~love is all~
Sunset ~love is all~
(And yes I really like some of these. Ayu normally has much better pvs than most people. But they're not like super amazing)

I just don't feel that a lot of these were some awesome masterpieces or something. Ayu still has amazing ones today. Ayu has had amazing ones in the past. There's no point in time where I can just say all her pvs are perfect or generally bad. She has a lot of good pvs imo. I LOVE ayus pvs
I just feel at times her old "classic" ayu image is just somewhat overrated (which is natural for fans to do especially since each like different things). Especially. ASFXX-Duty.
Ayus been A okay to me. Still coming with nice unique to herself pvs. She may always be taking a different direction with them but hey. That all her
I do feel however if u switched the release dates of these pvs some of these new lackluster pvs would be considered great and everyone would be complaining about the old pvs. But I think that's just how things always work.

^is that your list for PVs that suck...cause I think that's the first time I ever agreed completely with someone's list lol

(I might add a few...but I wouldn't take any out...which is very rare...for me...)

I might be in the minority in this... But I like her recent PVs WAY more than her old ones... Her old ones being pre-RAINBOW. I don't even remember what they look like lol. But if you're talking about the last 2-3 years, I still very much so disagree.

I'm going to give small explanations as to why I like all of the PVs I like since GUILTY because I'm at school in between classes and am extremely bored! Read if you wish, GREENdays! Tell me if you agree or not. I find it hard to believe you think ALL of these PVs are an indication in a decline in quality from the olden days lol.

Spoiler:

Talkin' 2 myself - I loved the concept of this PV and I loved that she attempted to do a little dancing for us! It was very dark, dirty and gritty just like the song.

decision - To me it's like an upgrade version of evolution. It was filmed with a very J-rock vibe and the lights and camera angles make it very visually appealing in my opinion. Sure not a lot goes on but Ayu looks liked great, the song is great and the video looks great. What more could you ask for?

glitter/fated - They're not exactly my favorite but I really appreciate the effort. (Technically it doesn't really belong in this list lol!!!!)

Together When... - Definitely one of my most favorite songs and PV. Both are extremely personal and it was very simple, clear-cut, not a lot of theatrics. I think if Who.../Ever Free/or Mem. Add were made into PVs, they would be a lot like this.

Marionette - Come on... You can't tell me you think Marionette is bad! It's MARIONETTE! xD; Sure you may not like it, but you can't think it's crap! You'd be crazy LOL.

Mirrorcle World - MW took a long time to grow on me to be honest. But it is very visually appealing. Ayu looks great, she's in a foreign location and she has GREAT costumes. Seriously the best clothes in a PV I've ever seen her in. I also love the head shot with the eye-lashes. <3

Days - Very typical story, very nice scenery, very nice hair and outfit. People may have their nit-picky issues with Days but it's far from a bad PV and Japan would definitely agree.

GREEN - A foreign location again. The only downside about this PV is the directing/editing. Ayu is flawless. Scenery is flawless. Nuff said xD;

Sparkle - Sparkle PV isn't really what I had in mind when I was imagining it but love it or hate it, you can NOT say it's boring, not innovative or unoriginal.

Curtain Call - I may be in the minority of CC lovers, but I LOVE this PV. I love its simplicity, I love how dressed down she is, I even love its flaws. I think the dislike for this PV stems from nit-pickiness again. "She's walking to fast" "It's all one scene" "Boring, unoriginal" blah blah blah.

Sunrise/Sunset - May not be the best PV to watch, but it was definitely the best PV to BE in. It's nice that she has PVs every now and then that fans get to join. As a fan myself I greatly appreciate that.

You were... - I adore this PV. I'm not ashamed to admit I cried when I first saw it lol. I think I have a thing for simplicity because this is one of my top favorite Ayu PVs. Again, not too much going on, not much of a story. But it's visually stunning and it's open to great amounts of interpretation. I find that (some) Ayu fans like to be told a story, beginning to end, don't leave out any detail because if I don't get it I'll call it "boring, dull, crap." Open your minds people.

BALLAD - EXTREMELY beautiful PV, great contrast, love the animated cats. Even though the story is well told, it is still open to interpretation, just like You were...

Microphone - I know some fans feel this PV is dumb because she wasn't in it enough, but even Ayu is big enough to share the spotlight even if some of you aren't (same goes for blossom). I love this PV, extremely great use of transitions. Nice to see some British talent.

Don't look back - Ourselves part II. Very simplistic yet super powerful statement. It's awe-inducing, draw-dropping and creepy as hell. Haters to the left.

Lady Dynamite - This PV gets a lot of hate but I think it's just from nit-pickers who have spikes up their butts and are NO fun. Just kiddinggggggggexceptnot...

Sexy little things - This PV gets a lot of love. Personally, I'm only a big fan of her costumes. I'll let the lovers tell you why it's so great LOL.

Yes they have, they went from somewhat interesting clips that I would like to watch more than once to extremely boring lame PVs that I struggle to get through on the first watch. She's gone from doing stuff in her PVs and trying to tells some kind of story to just sitting a chair pretending to cry for 5 mins spliced in-between clips of her crying but at a different angle and/or location.

As long as Ayu looks beautiful I don't really care about the rest. One of my favourite PVs is JEWEL and it's basically only sparkly stuff and Ayu looking beautiful while singing - that's enough for me. I don't expect hidden messages, amazing visuals or a brilliant story line when watching a Music Video. But that's just me.

I can like or dislike some her videos, but I cant say she doesnt put any effort.
I dont want to compare her with other artists but Im sure Ayu fans are the most spoiled fans EVER. I wonder what Beyonce fans say about her same videos for Sasha Fierce era lol.

I personally think it's interesting how Ayu can have a PV like JEWEL, and have it be completely amazing...while some of her other simple PVs fall flat...

maybe the concepts dont go with the song? Because JEWEL is quite a simple song in itself...and it was well reflected in the PV...I have a short attention span...and I wasn't bored for a second with it.

but again...that would be based on opinion lol I consider JEWEL to be a masterpiece of simplicity...ironic considering there's so much crap around her lol

It's probably a lot easier to like though...because everything you're looking at is just GORGEOUS.

I just have to ask something...

Why does everybody hate ANGEL'S SONG? It's one of my favorite PVs from Ayu.

^^ I know right? :O I like it too, it's so fun! People are taking it seriously or what?

I'm pretty OK with her recent PVs... Most of had to grow on me, but I enjoyed them at last. MOON was the only one I couldn't like.
I think she and her team started to make more symbolic, thought-provoking music videos with lack of dynamic action over storylined ones and that's why there are people complaining about condition of her PVs. I miss more dynamic PVs too, but I can have what I get~

i think that last line is it! JEWEL is just so damn beautiful! nothing really happens, but i can still sit there and stare at it and be mesmerized by it!

ayumi turns into a giant werewolf and does crappy kung-fu. whats to like?

seriously, i was traumatized by how bad it was when i first saw it! in comparison to the other PVs on Memorial Address it was pretty shockingly weird.

Sense of humour is evil! People who like jokes, to make silly stuff just for entertaiment and things like that are the cancer of our society!
