I'm a tag freak. Totally OCD about it. Like, if I'm listening to my mp3 player and I somehow managed to miss one it's all I can think about until I can get home and fix it. I'm crazy, but I don't care.

When I bought HEART STATION from Amazon MP3 it was mistagged and I didn't do anything about it until 450 plays later. I want to delete those but then it will cut my 993 Hikki plays to 500 something. So now I'm always checking and double checking.

I don't like the feat tag though. Like I Did It For Love feat. Sean Garret. No if BoA were to introduce the song she would just say I Did It For Love. If something features somebody put it in the booklet credits or something.

Also Original Mix tags are unnecessary like on the Mirrorcle World Single.

Amrai-Chan, I have a similar problem. I have more than 1000 plays of Dominique A. but the correct tag should be Dominique A without a point. So since I don't want to lose such a big amount of plays, I let it be

^ LOL!

.........................

I'm not much of a OC tagger but I have my own rules to follow xD
I don't put the album name on the title because it's quite obvious if it's on the same album folder.

If it's foreign music I tag it this way :
walking proud - Hamasaki Ayumi (浜崎 あゆみ)

If it's English I tag it this way
Lady Gaga - Monster

I don't really care that much if my covers have different dimensions but as much as possible I keep them similar.

Spoiler:
Actually I'm OCD I just don't like to admit it

Rather strict...

I put stuff like Mirrorcle World ''Original Mix'' I do that, but if it's I Did It For Love feat. Sean Garret I take out the feat. bit. I have feat. tags >_<

Even I don't have last.fm account, I'm a freak about correct tags. I always see at album/single scans and official sites and tag as it is written there. So, for example, I can't tolerate 浜崎あゆみ - I write ayumi hamasaki (I remember that on A Song for xx it was Ayumi Hamasaki )... All kanji etc. names are written in romaji, except for titles, when is english word(s) there - then I don't care, because I know a song.

Okay time to revive a dead topic!!

I've become so OCD that

All my covers MUST be 300x300 PNG (I usually get them from last.fm)
The tags are as correct as they can be according to the CD's tracklist (on the back insert)

Ugh tagging Korean music is still tough ;3;

I also go to the official artist website to make sure my tags are proper. Especially things like ellipsis and ~ lines are right xD

^^ UGH TAGGING KOREAN ALBUMS IS A NIGHTMARE. I've given up on trying to find the correct album tag. idc if it's SHINee World or The 1st Album SHINee World or Vol 1.SHINee World anymore

Oh I'm pretty strict about them, all the titles, artist names, cover art must be correct. I correct album tags for Japanese and Western artists, but I leave the Korean ones alone .. Unless it's an OST album, these are easy to tag

It just kills me that I have 222 plays on the 샤이니(SHINee) tag from listening to the Lucifer CD directly instead of ripping the songs into the computer and tagging them correctly .. I only realized that last.fm didn't auto-correct it after two weeks /coolstorybro

To say that I'm obsessed with getting the proper tags would be an understatement...
And I won't EVEN get started on how frustrating Korean tags are!!
I also will not listen to a song if I don't have the album art for it. I don't know why, I just literally cannot do it. I HAVE to have the proper art and tags before I can even consider listening to something.

well, I'm actually pretty strict for j-pop songs (e.g. the capital / lower case should be the same exactly like the official website )

but for all western and korean songs, I write it in the way wikipedia / iTunes Store does...

KOREAN ALBUMS ARE FRUSTRATING.
Not as bad as artists though.

Is it 걸스데이 or Girl's Day?
Is it 현아 (포미닛), 현아, Hyuna, Hyunah, Hyuna (4minute), Hyunah (4minute) or 4minute?

I tag it as good as I "can" and when I have the time, but it doesn't make me go all OCD when I see stuff that's wrong. I DO have huge issues with LQ covers though. Get that **** out of my itunes, please.

I do the same thing. The Vol. thing has always been really stupid imo.

I won't listen to songs that don't have the right tag either. Even if I'm just unsure about it, I don't want it to scrobble if I'm not sure it's correct. The artwork isn't as much an issue for me since that's just for looks and isn't scrobbled or anything. Still, I try and get at least decent quality covers so my iTunes isn't a shitshow.

Ew. Tell me about it. That's the thing I hate SO ****ING MUCH about Korean music. It's the same with T-ARA, Secret, and soooo many more. I tend to just go with what I see used the most on official stuff. I used to use Girls' Generation instead of the hangul, but I switched since, even though GG is written on all their covers and on all their promo stuff, it really seems like the official name is SNSD. No one calls them GG out loud unless maybe you're in a country that doesn't speak Korean. But even then, so many people just say SNSD.

EDIT: I just thought of something: it always bothers me when I see people who blatantly just don't give a crap about tags on last.fm. Like, it seems like it's defeating the purpose of accurately recording the music you listen to if you have all these crazy romaji tags for singers and song titles. It just pisses me off tbeh.

Agreeing so much. There can be like 5 versions of the song's title and I still don't know how to tag it.
and it's The SHINee World Sarah bb

Already posted here but things have been changed a bit. Since I got last.fm account I'm still a OCD. With japanese artists I don't have much problems, I tag everything as it should be, except I ALWAYS leave a space after feat. word and I don't care is it always correct (BoA's collabs can go die ugh). I'm always wondering whether should I go by japanese font (damn ~s!) or just type from my keyboard. And I most often use japanese font.

And korean music. I always tag artist name in hangul except those with numbers (2AM, 2NE1 etc.) and BoA (though nowadays, you know... ). I gave up with adding volumes, special descriptions in brackets [(Digital Single), (Mini Album), (EP)] to releases, I just type the title (e.g. NO.1 instead of 2집 NO.1). When artists are singing in more than one language (mainly japanese in that case) and they have other, official name in this country I'm going to tag other language stuff like that (most popular example: 東方神起 for japanese stuff, 동방신기 for korean).

I always go to sites like melOn to check the correct names of releases and songs.

I'm not that bad. I can't stand typo's, or song titles spelt wrong - but if the song's original title is in kanji or w/e I'll change it to romanji or to its english translation so I can know which song is which.

Album/single cover art has to be a perfect square and I edit them in Photoshop to be a little brighter so my iTunes looks colourful I don't use kanji artist names either; it's all "Ayumi Hamasaki", "Koda Kumi" etc.

Also if an artist has released music under different names, eg. Utada Hikaru's english albums were released under the name "Utada", I'll still tag it in my iTunes as "Utada Hikaru". But her Precious album is under "Cubic U" because I feel that's a different era totally for her.
