The nostalgia element is big in this release so I understand that. By chance, when Kuu's cover album came out I was only familiar with 4 or 5 of the original songs so while I still enjoyed it it didn't have the full effect of what a cover album is kind of supposed to do.

I was so excited when I saw this track list because many of them are songs I've loved for so long and others I actually listen to.

This. Cover albums appeal to different people. Obviously people who loved the original Japanese songs will dig this release because not only does she cover 'em she turned them into English versions, which is really cool.

Wow COVERS reached a new peak position of #3 , that's really awesome , go BENI go !

In the 1st week , COVERS was #7 & I very seldom see albums if not cover albums going up Oricon , that's such a rarity o_o

obviously if you don't know how the original songs sound like , listening to COVERS seem & feel as though it's totally alien/new

I've heard the originals that were sung by Ken Hirai & Kobukuro . Listening to BENI's English takes on them is just really refreshing & something different

She could have sung the songs in its original language but the fact that she went 1 step further & translate the lyrics to English , that's something you don't see it everyday

the fact that COVERS reached a new peak position of #3 in its 2nd week , I think it's saying a lot as it's not often I see releases that reach new peak positions that's even better than its 1st week performance

I understand that there is some nostalgia tied with the tracks.

But that doesn't change the fact that the songs sound like really off-beat poems. The way BENI sings it is just incredibly awkward. I'm not sure how to describe it. BENI doesn't really attempt to rhyme or anything, it just sounds like a bunch of thoughts in her head that she's singing against a backdrop of music.

The music is pretty though.
