BTW the soundtracks for his plays are really gorgeous too. Classical mixed with Japanese traditional.

I actually haven't heard his stuff past 2010 yet (I'm working towards it lol), so I'm extremely curious to what that's gonna sound like. I know that was around the time he switched labels, so that might have attributed to the more commercial sound.

You should listen to ARROW at least, and maybe WHITE LOVERS. You can skip the rest haha.

I love a lot of songs from Love Letter. His ballads are usually really beautiful.

White lovers is amazing. When I first heard it I listened over and over and over. I also really love Sakura chiru. Though it does sound a lot like hakuro. Or at least I think so. I definitely agree after his move to Avex he got more commercial but it's not necessarily a bad thing. He did lose some uniqueness however. But the songs themselves are still good.

^I could't accept Sakura chiru because it wasn't solely his work. Him collaborating with Yohio was something that i really din't like for some reason.

But yes, his stuff is still good, just maybe not as exciting and unique anymore as it used to be. Arrow and WHITE LOVERS are only two that left bigger impression on me. The rest was alright and enjoyable. I honestly don't believe he's capable to release something really bad.

Sakura chiru wasn't his sole work? Oh. My bad. It's still a beautiful song, however. One of my most played on iTunes. (Probably because of that build up. Like I said. I live for them.) I don't think he's capable of releasing bad stuff either, but I'm not a huge fan of his cutesy material if we're going to enter that area. I love his fun songs (ANOTHER WORLD, and such) but I wouldn't consider that cutesy. U+K comes to mind. Thinking of that just makes me go uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh. However, that does not mean it's bad. That's just my opinion. He just doesn't fit that type of genre to me. Though I know I'm in the unpopular opinion there. xD

Seki-ray, Vanilla, Mizerable, ANOTHER WORLD, mirror and wasuernaikara are my favourites of his old songs

as for newer, I would go with Songs from REBORN, such as kokuma heaven, GHOST or JESUS

I think my favorite songs from GACKT include Last Song, ANOTHER WORLD, Jesus, GHOST, Vanilla, Mizerable, FARAWAY and Papa lapped a pap lopped, in no particular order... I can never get tired of those

I don't think any of his releases are "bad", but I do think he does get rather repetitive sometimes. Some of his newer songs sounded like "more of the same" to me, like Arrow... it's classic GACKT sound, but imo it didn't stood out because it sounded like many other songs from him.

I love Rebirth, it's my favourite album by him. 4th, Secret Garden, Maria, uncontrol, marmalade, Papa... such great stuff!
Overall I prefer his older stuff to his newer stuff as well. It was just more interesting.
Though I had quite a long pause of his music now. Going to relisten to his discography properly now.
Either way I'm really curious, how this new album will turn out.

I'm glad he's everywhere! He's nice to look at lol. Yeah, I've noticed his height before when watching the music shows and it's kinda scary lol. But still hot.

yeah he is haha~ it's just funny how other artists need to do promo and shit, to be relevant and he gets CM after CM, event after event without doing much in the music world.

And him being tall only gives him advantage at this point xD
