Why doesn't Namie write her own song lyrics anymore, did she ever mention in any of interviews? I read lyrics translations for Free & Did U and those are very well written lyrics.

she said she does not feel confident enough thus restrains herself to just tell professionals what she visions and/or gives her opinion on certain things.

She did mentioned something about her feeling unconfident when she writes her lyrics for Say the word. She wrote the lyrics, revised it for a few times and left it there for a week before showing it to her team. The thing about Namie is that, she knows what she should have control of and what she shouldn't. She let the professionals take care of it when she thinks she's not capable of making it perfect.

That's a shame, I think she's a pretty good lyricist but I guess she's happy enough with all the lyrics written for her by other people.

I always hope that she'll eventually write at least one more song again, but, considering she hasn't written lyrics since 2006's "Free", I doubt she wants to anymore.

Sometimes an artiste who's not musically inclined but yet still try to compose and/or write their own material , the final result might backfire or turn out boring

I've seen that happened a few times & in this case , it's best to leave it to pros who're good in doing either 1 if not both

I was saying about in general on artistes that don't write/compose their own material . ARASHI tried doing that themselves for their Are You Happy? album last year & even though it has the most personal input from them , it turns out to be 1 of their most boring albums (and I thought their 2008's Dream"A"live album was bad but at least some of the album tracks were memorable)

Also I find that I listen to FEEL a lot more than _genic overall

I'm sure Namie will announce something epic before the year ends . If B'z can go all out with their 30th anniversary by coming up with a 59,400 Yen / 75,600 Yen complete single collection truck box that includes all their singles from 1988 until now , I don't see why Namie can't come up with a release of this huge magnitude

Just that I doubt it will happen but you never know

Actually, I always thought the songs on genic were created so people could dance and have fun. I don't think these types of songs need to have deep lyrics...

^agree, but I sill didn't like them. I'm not a native English speaker but I recall some of them saying some of the lyrics were nonsense.

Nah I think the lyrics were okay, but smart lyrics, even for a dancefloor song, should be the standard. It just makes it overall more enjoyable and long lasting.

That said, I never had problem with her lyrics I jsut never understood why she choose to do so much english when she obviously wasn't capable of pulling it of on every song. Upbeat tends to be okay, but her english in Let Me Let You Go just takes away quality of an overall good song and message. And since she is a "100% quality approved" artist, someone should have intervened here.

^ Agreed, ONLY YOU and Let Me Let You Go are songs I don't listen to much often despite being good songs

This is an over-discussed topic. She mentioned it for so many times why she keeps using English lyrics for some songs, because she feels that Japanese lyrics will ruin the flow of the song apparently. I understand that for dance tracks, but I agree with the comment on Let Me Let You Go. The song is my least fav Namie Ballad.

(and it costs money to hire a Japanese writer to rewrite lyrics in Japanese and she has her own agency now so...)

The thing is that sometimes I don't even notice a song has full English lyrics when it's upbeat
