^^

Her album isn't available digitally yet though. So I think those are actually her pure physical sales.

The other albums in that Top 5 only had a minor 1-2k difference than what Oricon reported for yesterday. But for Namie, that's a massive 200k that Oricon didn't count...

But idk how SoundScan works so I'm not exactly sure why there's such a discrepancy between it and Oricon.

Also I read on Twitter that some users commented that the mohawk like hairstyle Namie had in In Two PV is quite similar to the 1 she had in the Do Me More PV , lol

We already had that.
You can read it like that.

I love the sales!
I'm just sad she needed a big retirement annoucement to achieve them.

Well, nobody is able to achieve those sales nowadays except perhaps AKB48 but they also use various tricks so...

^you never know. There is no normal best of released by her. It could have been huge. Not as huge obviously but i kinda think BEST FICTION already showed what she could be capable of. That vogue article on the page before illustrates that very well.

Yeah but Best Fiction was like... what, almost 10 years ago? Artists were selling better then obviously. I don't think it's sad that she managed these numbers because of her retirement. It means that people care.
I wonder if Ayu would manage the same hype though.

I think an All Time Best album by Ayu would sell like 30k in the first day. Namie has had 1 monster hit this decade (Love story) and many other hits like Hero, Mint, TSUKI, and so on; while Ayu's biggest hit this decade is progress, which was certified platinum.
By the way, people were telling this album price was cheap for containing 50+tracks? I think that was a very smart move.

Was it? I was referring to its digital performance, it spent like two years in Recochoku top ten

Oh, ok xD

btw, the only new songs that I like are Showtime and Finally. The others are really meh. But I'm really enjoying the new recordings of her old songs, especially Disc 1 and Dr!

Yup

Price comparison against Finally & KinKi Kids's upcoming 20th anniversary best album The BEST (with all songs remastered)

Finally

3 CDs - 3,780 Yen
3 CDs + DVD - 4,644 Yen
3 CDs + Blu-ray - 5,184 Yen

The BEST

3 CDs - 4,860 Yen
3 CDs + DVD - 7,452 Yen
3 CDs + Blu-ray - 7,992 Yen

So yes the price differences between both best albums is quite substantial

Also as what Corvina said , it's a bittersweet feeling that while it's great that Finally has sold so well in just 2 days , this has to happen in line with Namie's retirement announcement

It's the same thing when SMAP announced they were disbanding last year & when they released SMAP 25 YEARS last Dec , it sold extremely well . It's still charting on Oricon btw

The fact that both SMAP 25 YEARS & Finally releases have a 25 number connection , it's a bit ironic ?

Btw I'm converting all 12 PVs included in Finally's Blu-ray disc from .m2ts to .mp4 and ok Christmas Wish PV ain't so bad after watching it in much higher quality .mp4 mode , I'm just annoyed the VR version is way nicer & more festive driven :x

Yeah, SMAP is another example.
They also had to retire to achieve such numbers.
It's just so sad for the Japanese market.

^hu? I actually don't see whats your problem here exactly. Its quite natural for someone to sell so much because there are so many factors coming together in such an album. The market shifts...but Japanese physical sales still work quite well compared to the Korean physical sales. I guess everything is alright.

I think she ment it's sad you have to announce you're retiring to get people to buy your stuff once again and while you were constantly putting out new things people just didn't bother. It's not sad the retiring bests sold well, but only them.

^yeah, I got that and it is just not true. Namie was amongst the best selling female solo acts these last few years. Not only physically but also digitally.

That this album was going to have sales beyond the usual level was quite clear. If it was an original album it would probably be around 200 - 300 k and that would have been awesome.
