Guess you still didn't understand?
It wasn't about Namie not being the best selling female solo the last years. It was a comment about the music market in general.
200-300 would be good for solos nowadays, yes.
But that's exactly the point.
The market is not interested in more, even for popular artists.
To achieve more, there has to happen something extraordinary like a retirement. And that's really sad for the market.
Cause at the same time the huge physical selling power we still had about 10 years ago just didn't shift to digital sales. Digital sales aren't that high in numbers as well. It got lost somehow.

The retirement announcement played a key factor on Finally's sales. This is the Recochoku weekly chart the week after the Facebook post:

1. Namie Amuro – Hero

2. Namie Amuro – CAN YOU CELEBRATE?

3. Namie Amuro – Love Story

4. Mr.Children – HANABI

5. AAA – LIFE

6. Masaharu Fukuyama – Seiiki

7. DAOKO x Yonezu Kenshi – Uchiage Hanabi

8. Nogizaka46 – Itsuka Dekiru Kara Kyou Dekiru

9. Namie Amuro – Don’t wanna cry

10. Utada Hikaru – Forevermore

It did play a big factor just like utada’s come back album. But they both can still sell decent without the hype. Just saying.

They've obviously been planning and working on this for a while. You can't just re-record/re-arrange 39 songs in like 2 or 3 months with whatever else she has going on.

I do think Hero is at least as big as Love Story in general public's eyes.
Last year in Japan, the song was played everywhere even when Olympic games were finished.

It's crazy how her sales took a -100k nosedive after Love Story. I think she did too much gay/drag queen music and it turned off the general public.

I posted an essential Namie Amuro playlist some time ago containing all her signature songs:

1. TRY ME
2. Body Feels EXIT
3. SWEET 19 BLUES
4. CAN YOU CELEBRATE?
5. RESPECT THE POWER OF LOVE
6. NEVER END
(7. uh Uh...)
8. SO CRAZY
9. GIRL TALK
10. Baby Don't Cry
11. NEW LOOK
(12. WILD)
13. Love Story
14. Contrail
15. TSUKI
(16. Golden Touch)
17. Hero
18. Mint
19. Finally

I very well got that. It still does not make a change. What do you expect? A single to sell 7million again? that will never happen and it does not have to do with lost interest in solo acts. AKB48 sales do not reflect their general popularity or the interest in their sales - three out of four sold CDs are bought just for the collectors card. 300k is so much if you compare it to albums that sell world wide. It just still that amount in Japan and there is still a download market/illegal download market that is bigger as you think and that you do not take into account.
I actually don't know why I argue with you on that - I just don't think it is as bad as you make it to be. And moreover I think it is a great feat to achieve such an high number....regardless on the factors that surround it. _genic sold very well despite not having any single and her tours that got longer and longer reflect her popularity way more than her physical sales. Same goes for other acts like Kumi for example.

Yes, you clearly don't understand my point.
I didn't even bring AKB into account.
Yes, most people are downloading illegal (which is probably the reason the selling power got lost, I hinted at that exactly) and not interested in buying the stuff, even for the popular artists. They just seem to do that for special occasions. And that's very sad for the market.
Cause just think further, what will happen.

I never denied Namie isn't still famous and selling exceptional well.

^I got it. damn. i got two master degrees. believe me, i got it. I know you didn't bring it into account, but you have to measure it on something. if you don't wanna compare - fine. Than your point is that the music market is not existent in japan anymore or what? Yes, the sales aren't as high anymore but my point it is that they will never be and you probably have to stop to compare it to the past. It is not like all music will suddenly be gone. I don't see why you feel sad for a music market that still shifts so much music.

And I say it again. She had a fucking sold out tour with 88 dates and you call that: "oh, the general public lost all interest" - yeah, right... but oh well, believe in what you wanna believe. I'm happy as long as I get new music from my fav artist every now and then.

No, I didn't say the music market is not existent anymore. You're just somehow reading it like that.
Well, and I didn't say the public lost all interest in Namie. Never did. Or in music. Just in how the maket currently works. For sales! Not tours or popularity
And what's best to compare than the own progression of a market? Why are the charts e.g. just partly a sign of what is popular e.g. (see AKB)?
Nobody can say, how it's going to be in the future. But it's interesting to note, how it is changing. Important to observe. And for me personally it's sad, how it is right now.
I don't understand, why you're so mad about it.
You clearly just feel different about it. I just don't want you to lay words in my mouth I never said.

It's interesting to note that Japan still guards their music like crazy, and not just music, the same applies to dramas/anime etc. I mean, why is it still almost impossible to find full music videos of Jpop on Youtube? They still sell music videos while Korea stopped doing that. Korea shifted its focus to YT so their music videos have 100k million views and more. And their music is still more popular.

I think that reflects Japan's general view on copyright issue and how closed their country is. Not sure if it is a good thing though. Music is not selling as it used to.

You're right and that's maybe the reaction to the obvious change of the market.
But I'm also not sure, how this is going.
