independent clap

Where did this clap come from? I heard it was on a few songs but I don't know the titles. I reconize Laruku has one song withe drumming to that beat... and it seems like Ai Ootsuka's song SMILY has that beating too.

how many songs are there with it? o_0

It's a generic clap. It's been on Saturday Night Live, with the last two beats being "Dog show."

lol I remember it on the planters peanut commercial when they say "S--A--T-U-R--D-A-Y--Night!" I when I heard independent I thought it was kinda ironic.

Those claps aren't quite the same. Close, but not exact.

Ai Otsuka's SMILY just got released, LOL. So Ayu definitely didn't got inspired by that.

I guess the clapping are just some ramdom beat.

I wonder where it originated, because it's a rhythm everyone knows. It's just a cheering type of thing, I guess, as Kinix said. People use it at football games and stuff and Ayu (and her Hamo Hamo Boys and Girls) used it for a friends-having-fun-at-the-beach-y feel. It's neat, cos I had that song playing once, and my friends (despite not knowing Ayu) clapped along like they knew the song already! ^_^

I hear the 'dog show' clap every time I listen to it. I always want to yell it out, or bang my head against the wall :p

lol. these comments are hilarious, but i really like independent, especially the version independent+ from RAINBOW; i think every time she performs it, its funny cause of the dancing, and i love how everyone in the audience does it, including the claps.
