I could maybe understand such reactions to this news if she failed to break into the top forty, but her not being #1 certainly isn't the end of the world or the sign of her failing career. Althought, it certainl isn't what many of us would have cared to hear, but it's a lot less discouraging if you focus on the good things: your favorite artist just released a new single, there are 3 news songs to her catalog that you can listen to and quite possibly love, there's a new video in her collection, and she made the top 5. All of that is good news

Exactly! It's very obvious even by watching everyone's reactions to "HEAVEN" and "Will" that you cannot please everyone. I cannot understand why some fans think Ayu always has to be number one, always has to make this and that type of song, always has to be perfect, yadda yadda yadda. No one is perfect!

If the fans that are complaning about HEAVEN's debut are indeed true fans, then they'd let this news be and allow someone else to enjoy the spotlight for once while Ayu remains in the top three. Think of it this way: how can the group that's currently in the number one position gain even more fans if their music doesn't break through the charts? Being number one not only gives them exposure, but they can also build a fanbase just like Ayumi Hamasaki has done throughout the years.

Quality is not so subjective. Hard to believe but its true. Ayumi's sound is getting stale. She hasn't done anything really new for a long long time.

Quality is completely subjective. Just look at the current American top 10. I think all the songs completely suck, but yet there they are - still in the top 10, so obviously someone thinks it's good.

In any case, I love the single and certainly think it deserved #1 more than some of her past singles but if it's at #3, that's fine. I'm shocked by how there's automatic rage or annoyance that a different artist trumped Ayumi's single. There's room for everyone to get the top spot and Ayumi's not the only one who "deserves" it.

Honestly, can you expect Ayu to come out with something 'new' when people kind of hear something and automatically compare it to something else? She has over 100 songs, and people will never be satisfied if she released something new. If she released one of her older singles now, a bunch of us would complain and etc. 'OMG THIS 'M' single SOUNDS LIKE SOME OTHER SONG SHE'S DONE' or something. It must be hard for ayu. ;O

I'm not sure if I'm correct or not. As been a fan since the early stage of ayu, we've been walking with her till this stage. It's certain that we've seen ayu not getting no. 1 (early singles & appears, vogue, Far away, AUDIENCE, Daybreak). We have seen her getting up and down several times throughout her career. I remember that I wasn't that hardcore between the time when she released Free & Easy till A BALLADS cuz basically I think her music was recycling and getting boring. After she got her third consecutive Gold Disc award we felt like she finally obtained her goal. I'm sure most of you felt that she could be retiring anytime during that moment cuz the fact that she's not that popular anymore (well it's quite obvious actually if you follow the oricon chart from 2000 to 2003. I know that all artists' sales are going down but you can't deny she's not as popular as the A BEST era). Anyway back to topic. She's still releasing materials, and our hearts start pumping... We're afraid that she may not getting no. 1. It's not long ago so you should remember that during INSPIRE release oricon predicted that she wouldn't get no. 1. However, she managed to get the top spot. We're so happy that she gets no.1 continuously. We do know that eventually she will be beaten by other artists or even herself by producing bad music... that's why during last year I really thought she would not get no. 1 anymore. Honestly I dun really like her songs in MY STORY (too rock is not my favor... And note that her older music wasn't that rocky), so I was hoping that this year she would produce better songs, and I was happy that STEP you and fairyland aren't that rocky (it's like back to evolution era.... a bit rock but mainly poppy).


I think I've talked too much... cuz i'm not good at explaining stuff. Fans are sad not because whether HEAVEN deserves to be no.1, or whether this song is good or bad. It's just we know eventually ayu won't get no. 1 and yet we can't change this fact. We're watching ayu's shine fading a little by little. We're afraid that one day she will be leaving because of that (or worse... still here but her singles are not at top 30...).

Last... I do feel sorry that HEAVEN doesn't get no. 1, but I accept this fact. Of course I still have a little hope that it will get no. 1 (like a miracle..), but I will still be happy if she gets no. 2 or even no. 3 (PLS but not no. 4... beaten by NANA ain't that fun at all )

She had a string of non-stop number 1 singles after a silly number 2 chart position! PLS dont say her star is fading, Ayu will always be number 1 as long as we believe in her.. I have no doubt that she will get no. 1 for the later singles tho. This one is definitely a shock but probly it's good for ayu (who knows whether this seem-to be-bad thing may turn out to be a good guide later on?)

and yeah.. Daybreak is silly because Avex released this side-cut single. Really stupid . It's a good single tho (I like the HAL's MIX 2002 hehe)... the mv is just er.. mahh...

guys, i don't think her voice is weak
i think her voice is really powerful right now and her singing technique is really GREAT she use her deep voice not her throat voice..i just want to say that her voice is really WONDERFUL
i was her fans from 1998 until now, and i love her newer song
HEAVEN is one of them and HEAVEN is really great for a single
why we feel dissapointed with the fact, because its HEAVEN guys, its not FAIRYLAND and STEP you or FORGIVENESS
so..its really hard to face the fact that she isn't in the number and beaten by kanjani8 and gorie..its really hard you know
