ayu got that name from her past modeling company[SOS]. they choose that name because ayu's eyes are big and round, hoping this name would help ayu to have great achivements in the future.

That's actually from the movie Nagisa no Sindbad, Ayu had actually already dropped out of school by the time that pic was taken.

Did she ever go back to school to finish her education? Or she just didn't have enough time for it with her music career and all?

As far as I know, she never finished school.

I think she dropped out during her first year of high school. I read that somewhere, although, not sure where.

Yeah, I think you're right. Cause she dropped out in 10th grade, which is like the first year of highschool in Japan.

actually she drop out because she does not feel like going to school. at first, ayu does not even want to go to high school, it's her modeling company who persude her to. she simply just fax to her school 'i don't wanna study anymore!' ayu hate to be doing the same stuff as others,and school just wasn't her thing. after dropping out, ayu went to new york for training, that's how we got the ayu now.

She still looked as cute as ever back then.^^ Anyways, I read somewhere that back in her school days, Ayu was actually considered stupid since she seemed slow in her studies and wasn't very good at memorizing stuff (and we all know how the Japanese education is like). Haha, I wonder how stupid her teachers and classmates must feel now that they see her face practically pasted everywhere. XD

She dropped out of school years before her NYC training. She dropped out around 93 or so and that is when she began doing a lot of acting appearances.

in between her school years to training at new york, there should be around 3 years. coz she drop out when she reach year 2, that should be 1995. year 1993, ayu in still a year 2 student in middle school.

Hm... I read in an interview that she started out really well actually, in a science (biology was it?) and was very eager to study about it etc until she realised that she didn't need these things in life.

Not what I deem the smart choice in life for everyone, but Ayu obviously made it through
