The next queen of Jpop????

I`m on jpopmusic.com and there`s alot of discussion about the next queen of Jpop. Thoughts anyone?

http://www.jpopmusic.com/forums/view...er=asc&start=0

ok, here`s other people`s opinions posted on Jpopmusic.com:

yuchan
I think it's kinda hard to say. Namie and Ayu were pretty much of the generic pop vein. Hikki brought a new Style to J-pop. I can't say why Kumi all of a sudden got popular. She has been out for a while. So i don't really have an answer. We could get someone new or someone, like Kumi did, may just all of a sudden become the new hot after many years of working.
But i'd guess maybe Ai Otsuka? She doing very well so far. Can't think of anyone else with the potential to be the next "It Girl"

Klonoa
I still see Ayumi Hamasaki reigning for a few more years, and after that I dunno who will take her spot. I can tell you for sure that artist like Koda Kumi will not be queen. Koda Kumi is a "right now" artist. Right now she's hot like BoA, Kuraki Mai, and Mika Nakashima was. After some other artist come out that catch peoples attention it'll be like "Koda who?".

I think someone like Ai Otsuka should be next Queen. I can't think of any specific quality, just something similar to Ai Otsuka.

I don't agree that ayumi is still the queen i mean in a way she is but she's really headed south. but i do agree the koda is just a "quicky" artist. "boom* she's in *boom* she GONE!

Klonoa replied:
I really do see Ayu being queen for two or three more years. Look at all these records she has set. She's top selling solo female artist in Japan. She's even broke records Seiko Matsuda has set. And looking at these J-Pop artist we have now, I don't see anyone topping anything Ayu has done. Maybe her sales are going down, doesn't mean she done being queen.

Can anyone name just one artist thats out that can take Ayu's spot. Just one. I don't think anyone can.

This is coming from someone who isn't even a Ayu fan.

AuraToBe
I don't think there will be anymore "queens". Ayu is the last JPop queen. Being a JPop queen means being seen everywhere, having well above average sales for every release, endorsing multiple products, and appearing on a gazillion magazine covers every month. I don't think there is anyone that has that level of popularity anymore. I mean, Koda Kumi is popular, but she will never reach the heights of popularity like Ayu/Namie/Seiko/Akina had in the past. I think that era of the J-Pop scene is over now.

Ikuni-web
My _own_ opinion on the topic:
I don't believe in these "Queen of Jpop" idea people here have, but I hope the next really successful female Jpop artist is someone who writes and composes her own music, has her own ideas, evolves musically, and doesn't get put into genre labels. I also hope that whatever fans she gets aren't abrasive, because those people are creepy. And I would never dream of saying some of the things I've heard other people say to each other.

yeah, Ayu probably won`t be forever but I still see many years of her being Jpop Queen. I really don`t think Kuu would be a really good Jpop queen. She`s too ero-kakkoi style or whatever it is. Right now, I`m still totally for Ayu though. Hikki on the other hand may be next. I dunno. Not that I want anyone to replace Ayu, but if I really had to choose, I`d pick Hikki.

You probably shouldn't be copying their posts here. If you want to discuss what those people said do it there.

I don't know either, but in some ways, Ayumi Hamsaki just established herself as an epic. She just broke some of the last records for female solo artists (one is leftI think and that is the most number one albums, or most million selling albums currently held by yuming) by beating seiko matsuda's number of number ones. She WILL hold these records for a long time, especially in today's music climate.

To be honest, I don't see another "queen" for a long time. The era of female idols seems to be over, and now it's more about the boybands.

When ayu finally goes many of the artists we think will be the next queen probably wont be around, like namie heres hoping

I think if there is a next queen it will be someone completely new and unheard of yet

yes.. koda is popular and top seller.. and she will be for a while ... but there wont be much groundbreaking artist like Yumi Matsutoya.. ayu was nowhere close to yuming. its just that yuming got old.. like ayu...

i agree with micster.. its going to be a new artist.. maybe hiromi ? XD...
neither mika nor otsuka can be the j-pop queen.. since their style aint pop.. its some weird thing mixed with pop.. its good tho.. but nah.

well, at least we can be confident that ayu will STILL be the queen for a couple of years more. therefore, there might be some good artists coming out in the future. but right now, all i saw is those boybands. THEY are the ones getting bigger. Like NEWS, KAT-TUN and WaT, i'm only naming the new ones within this 2 years. this 3 groups are very sucessful. and not to forget those older ones, SMAP, Kinki kids, V6, Tokio, Arashi, w-inds, Tackey & Tsubasa....The industry is more of these boybands....

ai is to cute for a queen...but I think she deserves the titel princess and it doesn´t mena thats she is under a queen^^)

I dunno...there is no hype at the moment so I can´t say...kuu is there but she has no hype feeling...she is just one of many...I think ayu was tooooo outstandig back then...but that doesn´t make her a queen anymore....just a noteabel artist I would say

There isn't anyone out there currently that can dominate the way Ayu once did..I mean there are a lot of visually dynamic artist, of course of the reasons Ayu became so popular..but one of Ayu's main influential powers was from her lyrics, a sort of "special talent" that is quite rare presently.

There won't be another ICON with the kind of flair that Ayu had for a long time. I agree with most who believe that Kuu's just a flash in the pan, and that the new craze is Japanese Boy Bands. I bet that for a while, there are just more "Kuus" -- artists that strike it big for a year or two, and then another comes along...

Anyway. I think that Ayu's definitely got years ahead of her -- I can't wait to celebrate her BIG 10! ^__^ However, if I could have my pick at who would be Queen for the next era of Japanese Pop, it would definitely have to be...

ITO YUNA.
