Well, Ayu doesn't have a chance in hell of reaching 1~million with (miss) now that Kuu's BEST~SS~ is out. Ayu's no competition for Kuu anymore. I'd be surprised if she hits 900k. Hopefully this is just a slump and the next album will hit 1~million.'

I was just adding to that~ ... ish xD

I dunno.. A BALLADS took a hecka-long time to be 'one million' :\ But chill out. So what if I mention Koda? It really shouldn't matter to you so much >> Whatever. Don't care ~ Ayu~~ I hope she gets at least 900k in the next few months :O!
no, u were more like bashing her. and it came out of the blue. greggerz wasnt bashing her, u were. and it does matter to me, because a) i like both ayu and koda b ) this isnt the 1st time u mentioned her in the "ayu news" threads. u've been bashing her from at least 2 wks ago. at every possible moment, u almost always have something dumb to say about her that i've lost count. c) if u like talking about her so much, either go into the KK thread and if u have problems with her style or w/e y dont u just make a thread at the "asian music chat".

and greggerz i dont get wut u r trying to say here:

it'd be hard to reach the million at this pace
maybe she should consider re-releasing (m)u 1 or 2 new songs and some new pvs + nice cover and lyrics booklet

Why are you guys so bothered about her album reaching 1million sales or not?
And we cant compare a Best album with new album so stop comparing both albums together.
If you guys wana compare maybe BoA's album will be a better choice. It's not ayu's sale is decreasing only. In the past most hit song singles can reach 1 million easily but now it's hard to get past the million mark for even an album.
Koda is getting the limelight now maybe for the next two years also. But after such a long wait for her, I think she deserves it.
Ayu's times might be gone but she's lucky enough to have the limelight for the past 6-7 years as sales of records album arent that bad. And a top sales of 3 millions for a Best album compared to the 1 million sales now I quite happy with that already. Would you want her to be like koda getting the limelight now or be what she is now? (I don't mean koda is bad. It's just an example of the peak times.) I'm proud of ayu being able to be a stay in the japan music industry for such a long time =D Let's all look positively instead of only whinning about the past and present sales

I guess Koda just leaks out of my fingers when I post here LOL

Nah. Anyways, I'm so glad Ayu isn't in the trashcan of the many jpop artists who have fallen after 5+ years.. And I'm also glad that she at least sells more than 50k in the first week! :]

Hehe~ sales it no longer an object of "importance" to me nowadays~...it's merely a numerical digit to show the amount of sales which gives a biased information to show the success of one person....I mean like... Oricon, it only ever counts sales in pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~~

The reasons why people can't get album:
no money
no access
just ran out of money lately
saving it for something else
Don't like the tracks
Doesn't like the pictures inside

reasons to get them:
super fan
likes the album
loves the pictures!

...

How the "thing" is sold affects it a lot, ie, what comes with it, what doesn't, how special the tracks on the album is, how "limited" the version can be... etc

they're just marketing sales

I assure you, many people usually buy things because they're worth value not because of the actual song quality.

so like...yeah~

These sales not longer tell people anything too important, and it certainly will not represent an artist's fall or rise and success.~

I don't see that (m)u not selling well as a suprise. It's most likely many people are not will to try out Ayu's new song styles~ (you know~ B&D and how everyone when nuts about the song~) new styles that are introduced to the audience usually either takes time to get absorb, that is unless that specific style REALLY just hits the audience's taste...
B&D/Pride single's release was mostly to get the audience ready for her new style...sometimes reading the magazine interviews does seem to hint that too~

I LOVE YOU AYU!
Me too. I thought it was her best work since it was so variable and colourful like a kaleidoscope. Chances for reaching the elusive million seems to have faded away... Probably 900 000 would be tough too.

^ Not everybody embraces diversity, it's sad to say.

So, it looks likely then that this will be her first album not to reach a million.

I didn't mean that (miss)understood is an amazing album becuase I actually don't think it is that great.... I think MY SOTRY was better and I skip alot of songs on (m)u, but what I meant was that I thought she would have no problem selling a million copies simply because, well, IT'S AYU!

I am really happy to have read that the message above shows that Ayu's album is the highest sales of orignal album!

well.. MY STORY and Memorial Address were on the charts for more than 40 weeks and A BALLADS was on it for 39 ..
(miss)understood has been on for 12 now, so it should have at least enough time to reach the 900 000 mark...

That's not why I think it is one of her weakest. Diversity is just fine, so long as it works.

But keep in mind, just because I am labeling it as weak, does not mean I think it is bad. Even Ayu's weak albums I still think are better than many artists good albums. Ayumi has the ability to deliver spectacular albums though and I just didn't find this album to be able to hang with the likes of say, "I Am" in terms of cohesiveness, atmosphere, overall packaging and look, arrangement and structure(like the My Story album most of the songs have the exact same structure. So actually in that regard there wasn't much "variety" at all), and creativity/originality. The only area that the album stands up to her better works I feel are the lyrics - Ayu's still a great songwriter.
