How long has "A BEST 2" been in planning?

I think around the time of CDL 05-06. For that and A-Nation, they where showing a time line of stuff before the concert of her starts.

The two likely scenarios has already been covered now I think, either after (m)u because of the album's sales or simply because it was such a long time ago that a BEST album was released by Ayu, I don't think the sales was very unexpected or surprising to avex. Or right after AT06, which I suppose took up all her time, so either the A BEST 2 plans was stalled during the tour or they weren't picked up until after it.

I also think that it was in planning for a long time, but they decided to bring it up now mainly because her previous 2 albums, while both hitting #1 in their first week, didn't do so well. As of right now, she's had 2 consecutive albums that haven't hit the 1 million mark yet, and my story didn't do that well either. Considering that A ~Best~ was her best selling album as of yet, this album might just be another ploy to bring back her sales from before

Yeah, they usually show a showcase of her previous performances [a-nation only @ a-nation 05, but it was all her concerts in a video @ a-nation '06.]

It was actually supposed to be released after MY STORY but then she fell in love with GEO's stuff

So then, she decided to do an album 'cause there were enough songs

Then Secret came out of nowhere - first announced as a mini album then became a full album 'cause she found some extra tracks

Now Secret isn't doing so well on the charts - so avex is like OMG OK now's the time for another BEST

No more delays! NOW! (max yelling)

So then they're like OMG let's totally load it up on 2 versions! (You'll HAVE to BUY both)

^^i think there were plenty of songs enough to fill a 1 CD A BEST 2 after MY STORY but then when they released m(u) they had to switch it up to 2 CDs because it would be impossible to fit all those songs onto 1 CD.

To be honest, I think they were read to release another BEST since Memorial Address, but the black/white decision was probably made recently.

well i dont have an time to read everything, but its obviouse. Since A BALLADS. Herer contract ends she realeses a new comilation album. simple.

a long time, i think. if you look at the psat release pattern of ayu, she releases an album in feburary or march every 2 years.

2003: a ballads
2005: my story classical

so it would be logical that A BEST 2 is released in 2007.

Since every artist is releasing A Best of albums nowdays and these albums are selling more then an original studio album most of the time. Avex was probably testing how Secret would sell and had the idea of A Best 2 since 2006. But since Secret wasn't the million seller they hoped for, they switched to plan B and couldn't wait until Ayumi's 10 years of anniversary. But that's what I think...
