Ayu is 88lbs!? Whaaaat?

I remember seeing this a long time ago, and I forgot about it until today. An Ayu bio says that her weight is 40kg, or roughly 88lbs. That cannot be right. I realize she's short, but 88lbs as an adult at any height is risky.

Does anyone else think this is completely absurd?? :/

I remember when I first got into Ayu I told my friends she was 88lbs and they all referred to her as 88lbs girl. Also in one of the Panasonic CMs (I think the one featuring Carols) it says something about her being 15 percent body fat (or some really low number).

Actually that weight for her height is pretty acceptable for asian's standard.

But anyway, that info may be pretty outdated already. Her weight might have changed over the years, especially when she worked out so much more in the recent years.

Is hard to tell. I'm some official pics she looks skinny and in random pics she looks average (like unofficial concert pics).

There are models that weight less than that.

My best friend is about Ayu's height and weight and she's perfectly healthy. Besides, isn't a low weight very common with Asian females? I don't think I even know any slim Asian girls above 105lbs.

It's not really risky. Im same size as Ayu and I weight 50kg and my treiner said it's a perfect weight, so she has a little underweight I think. 45-50kg is perfect, so it's not that bad.

have you seen her in her 2001-phase? it wasn';t normal~! the foxtail alone weighed more than she did~!

I'm sure she's gained weight since that bio, but 88lbs is a tad bit underweight for her height. She doesn't look that skinny though, so she's obviously healthy.

40-42 kg is ideal for every asian girl (since they are quite short). now she must be like 50 kg. I kinda miss thin and young ayu.

Ayu is actually really thin now. She's the thinnest she's been in her career, I think, minus the crazy years where she only slept like half an hour probably, haha.

And I'd say for her height and frame, it is normal. I was like 90lbs when I was 5'2" (...like almost a decade ago) and I'm a guy. It's common to see people in Japan that are about 6 feet / 183cm tall that are extremely underweight for their height by American standards, but its really normal over there.

It's an old bio. I do believe that she was 40kg back then. She's only 156cm / 5'1 tall, so it's far from impossible. I have a friend who is 5'1 ½ and she weighs 39kg and I mean, she looks really thin, but not on the verge of starvation with like her bones popping out and stuff.

I don't believe she weighs that little now though, our metabolism changes as we get older and she was around 20 when that bio came out. I wouldn't be surprised if she was around 44-50 something. But not more than that, seeing that she is still amazingly fit and slim.

She's actually only 4'11, as she revealed on her twitter a couple months ago, so that weight would be alright.
