What do you think about Ayu's lip syncing ?

So many fans mention Ayu's lip syncing in these concerts (ABL, CDL13-14, Showcase 2014,..), What do you think about that ?

In my opinion, I don't like/ believe that my idol lip synced about 3-5 songs in her concerts... Her work will be so bad, dirty when she continues to do it day by day... The good artist must not do it, moreover she is the Japanese diva...

Some of my friends appreciate her great songs/performance/PV, they watched the TV live and compared to the DVD/BD version. I just tell them that in her own concerts, she is well-prepared and most confident than the other stage...

Please share your opinion !

I hope you don't discovered that Ayu lip-sync only since ABL ... lol Ayumi uses pre recorded tracks since at least the ARENA/STADIUM TOUR 2002 ! She stopped between CDL 2009-10 and CDL 2012-2013 !
I don't like that but now I don't care she is perfectionist so she prefer use a pre recorded track for a performance who need to be perfect that's how I see things because I know she can sing live (the acoustic segment during the last CDL is a proof). I accept 2/3/ songs if it's the whole show or the 3/4 it's annoying ...

She does lip-synch and always did lip-synch. And almost everyone on the pop music market, being it Koda Kumi, Beyoncé, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Kylie, Perfume, Kyary, BoA, etc. does it too.

I never seen Utada, Miley Cyrus and Pink lip-synching, and I think that's it among popstars...

The first few concerts I watched of ayu cdl 04-05, 05-06, AT05, I thought she was awesome for not lip-synching any song. So when I realised she does do it for energetic dancey upbeat songs (energize, some renditions of angel's song, beautiful fighters, greatful days etc) it was quite disappointing. Like I thought she would be 'different' but she wasn't. But I loved her enough by then to close an eye to it.

As for the Japanese I don't think they mind. Arashi seem to lip sync quite a few songs in their concerts and I'm never sure if the ***48 groups sing live yet they have legions of fans..

Agree with all of you, lip syncing is normal imo
And it depends on the situation, for example intensive dancing needs lip sync or like Namie and Beyonce they chose to not moving their lips and dance instead.
Also for cases like alterna AT06 or Angel, it's not surprising if she lip synced, it's difficult acrobatic and the position is not suitable for singing.

Certain songs that pop artist do just cant be sung live so they lip sing them.
Do they do a new recording of it? Maybe, I would like to think so since I don't want to hear the album ripped right out of it.

But I have gone to ayumi's concerts and most of her songs are not lip singing, but actually her.

As for me, playback devalues the entire purpose of a concert; live music. It feels like cheap trickery. It appears misleading and dishonest to declare something as "premium" and/or "live" when the singer is actually coming up with several playbacks.

I prefer to pick out a few performances of each concert for this reason and solely pay attention to those. Watching the whole thing? Not possible for me. There do exist a few exceptions like "Concert Tour 2000 A Vol.1", "Stadium Tour 2002", "Arena Tour 2006" and the like, which are not fully live, either, but magical as hell so I can't possibly ignore them...

^ What did she lip sync at AT06? Ladies Night? And I'm pretty sure she didn't lip sync anything when I went to CDL10-11.

Kumi doesn't lip sync. I've never ever seen her do that. She just usually has a prominent backing vocal track to which she ad libs.

Ayu has always lip synced! I personally don't like it, especially during ballads, but it's okay when it's during a silly, fun song like Sparkle AT09 or Ladies Night AT06. Those perfs are just too flawless and it's not about vocal emotion anyway. I do hate lip syncing happy songs though, like HONEY and Fly high. Those tracks you should be jumping and shouting and being happy, not sounding like an auto-tuned squirrel with no emotion.

The worst lip sync fail she's had was ANGEL'S SONG CDL08-09 Premium. In the TV version her mouth and the vocals were completely wrong at one point, haha. The other big one is I am... from CDL0910. They didn't even fix that on the DVD version, her lips are singing something else than what you hear...lol.

Unfortunately a lot of fans don't want to believe she lip syncs even after seeing THAT. They claim it was the "TV being out of sync", etc. It shouldn't bother me but such ignorance is rather annoying.

ON THE OTHER HAND quite frequently the DVD gets a completely different vocal track. Feel the love CDL1314 was sung live but on the DVD it sounds lip synced. 1 LOVE at AT07 was sung live as well but for the DVD they used THE SAME VOCAL TRACK as from a-nation! LOL

Yeah, I don't like it either. I don't mind a song here and there because I guess there are going to be time were some songs are going to be mimed. E.g. I totally understand why she mimed in PCDL 08/09 - she didn't want to cancel the show because of her injury.

I just wish she wouldn't continue to mime unless she has to. It's disappointing that she's miming so much nowdays. I thought it was something she was going to leave in the past.

I'd rather she not bother with dancing, acrobats etc and sing live instead.

Her injury was right before PCDL, wasn't it? I don't think she lip synced "because of her injury". I don't see how that makes sense. Rather, she lip synced because it was a ridiculously long set list. Which is totally fine by me; we got to see flawless performances of Heartplace, Real me, GREEN, etc.

Ayu totally sucks at lip syncing. She does these weird BIG OPEN MOUTH GESTURES as if she wants to make sure the audience sees her moving her mouth. XD

As someone who has never actually attended a concert but buys the DVDs, I would rather she lip synched than have to listen to bad vocals! But obviously I'm sure if I was at the concert, it would bother me.

I totally agree with you but for her defense (I'm kidding) she has to sing 4 days in a row she must preserve her voice for the other shows lol

I thought you said that they edited the performance heavily in post production which is why it sounded/looked off in the video.

Was it lip synced on all three dates? Because the bootleg recording I watched of Feel the love sounded very live, albeit it was only like 10 seconds so I dunno.

Actually if Feel the love was lip sync I wouldn't even care because it's one of those fun dancey songs that don't need emotion or a live voice lol

A BEST LIVE tour had 3 songs she lip synced - poker face, Fly high and HONEY.
Now when I think of her new concerts I can't help wondering how much of the show is actually going to be LIVE. Of course I still like Ayu very much but realizing that your favourite artist is heavily relying on lip syncing isn't a pleasant thing.

The thing is it was already processed (pitch-corrected), but just not to the crazy point of this DVD release. It was not sung live, but still the editing was not excessive. Both 30 and 31 it was the same lip sync version. She sung it live only on 29th (at least these vocals were not edited). When I uploaded the version from 31th, I wanted to believe it was live myself, but after I compared the sound from all 3 dates, I know it wasn't live ufortunately.

I know sometimes people wrongly acuse Ayu of lip syncing. But it's not the case here, since I've got evidence, so it's evident for me.
Of course you're free to believe what you want, but for me Ayu lip syncing several songs is a fact.
