Question Recommend some artists please?

Could you please recommend some asian artists to me please? I haven't been able to hear much as I haven't really been able to download much. So far I like Ayu, Kuraki Mai. I'm not into RnB, boybands, or heavy rock. I don't mind the stuff Ayu's done, as it sounds good, but I'm not into anything heavier than that. If you could upload some samples for me to listen to and PM me the link I'd be grateful. Thanks

Thanks, but the little I've heard of TBG I don't really like, it's too much like the indie stuff here. I don't like RnB, and every single Utada song I downloaded I didn't like them - they all sounded the same. So no, I don't like her stuff. I probably should have said no indie stuff in that list too.

I agree with Bonnie Pink. She's awesome! ^_^

Namie Amuro - the QUEEN of J-pop... her newer stuff is R&B, but her 90s stuff is mostly pop =)
Nana Katase - her music is mostly synthy-dance-pop, but it's catchy as all hell. ^_^
Aiko Kayo - she's adorable and her songs are WAY catchy.
Yui Ichikawa - 'Love Letter' is her best song (that I've heard)... it's angst-pop at its finest. =D
Rio Matsumoto - she's just started singing, but her first single is reallyreally good!
Asuka Hinoi - she's only 13, but both her music is REALLY good... especially 'Tatta Hitori No Kimi!'
Nami Tamaki - she's young too, and her singles have mostly been anime-themes, but I still like her a lot. Especially 'Distance,' 'Reason' and 'Highschool Queen.'

Baby VOX
Namie Amuro

Since you like ayumi I suggest you to try Do As Infinty and H/\L because their composers are the same for ayu's. Some of their stuff can be a bit simillar.

As a long shot, I highly reccomend Kagrra,. They're a visual-kei band, but their music isn't anything heavy.

Thanks for the suggestions... I won't try anyone that's R&B or dance, that kind of thing as they irritate me. Anyone know where I can hear mp3s of these artists, since I don't have any download programs? I want to listen properly to them before deciding to buy CDs. Or if anyone has AIM would you please send me some?

If you wanted to listen to some korean artists you could try solid07. Their music section is pretty extensive, it's all low quality wma's though.. but it'll be a good place to try differernt artist to see if ya like 'em at least.
Also if you check out their forums they're always posting albums/songs/PV's from lots of different asian artists etc..

hope this helps ^__^v

I've had a quick look, but it's hard to know what to download, as there's no information on what genre the artist/s are... it's a bit confusing.

Thanks for the info, I'll check them out.

UHPlus, thanks, but I had already said I didn't like Utada and I hate R&B, so I probably won't like namie amuro... they're probably good singers, but I just don't like their genre of music.

^I think you downloaded the wrong Utada songs, not all her songs are r'n'b and alot of them are very 'pop'. Try Traveling, Deep River, Final Distance and Hikari.

maybe you want to try Mika Nakashima or Kiroro? The first one you should've heard plenty about, she's mainly jazz/acoustic-sounding so they are good to relax to. The second one's less famous here but they were famous in Japan. It's a duo of two girls, one vocals and the other one plays the piano. I'll upload a song or two of theirs soon if you want me to.

other recommendations:
Kou Shibasaki - great voice, she's a famous actress and her songs are very popular in Japan.
ZONE - girl band, a few songs are great.
Ken Hirai - he's supposed to be R'n'B but don't let that turn you off cuz his ballads are great. He also sings in flawless English.
You Hitoto - can't really describe her style...but personally I think she's probably as unique as Shiina Ringo.
