Question about A BEST

I have a question about A BEST, it's been bugging me recently...

The cover of A BEST has Ayu crying on it. Originally (about 6 months ago), I had heard that around that time (of A BEST), she and Utada were releasing an album around the same time, and a rivalry flared up between their fans. It got to the point where Ayu was telling people that she never wanted to compete with Hikki in the first place and so she put a picture of herself crying on her CD to show her turmoil.

Now a few days ago I heard that she was crying on the CD cover because of the "A BEST" scandal. Now, I have no idea what the heck this is- so if someone could elaborate, I would appreciate it.

But anyway- I'm as confused and running around in circles like a banana smoothie. I don't know which one to believe and which one NOT to.
