Afraid that ayu will stop singing...

Is anyone here afraid that ayu will stop singing and producing albums?

i was thinking of saving up slowly to go japan, go to one of her concerts, get all her ayupans and albums... but after the news of her left ear being completely deaf, i'm so worried that she'll stop singing because of her condition even before i manage to get to japan... :| even though i hope she will get plenty of rest and not strain her right ear so much... i really wan to at least see her concert once in my life...

I must say that this thought was in the back of my mind when I first read the news about her impairment.

Because I really wanted to save up to go to Japan for one of her concerts as well and see her live or something but that wouldn't be till 2009-2010 or so... and so I was afraid that she might stop singing by then.

I do think that that I was kind of selfish of myself though... rather, I want her to do what she thinks is best for herself and if that ends up with her going on and singing then awesome, if she decides to cool down or stop, then I'm fine with that too =]

I can't help but want to see her perform in person at least once though

She wont. Remember? Music is her life, without it, she'll die, she's nothing.

If it comes to the worst, she'll just learn to sing again.

Exactly. She won't. Remember the CNN interview. She said she couldn't imagine her life without music. She said she would literally died.
So, i don't think she wants to stop singing....neither does Avex

i'm not afraid of ayu stopping, because like people have been saying,it is her life. she said she wouldn't stop on her message on the TA blog. I hope she takes it a little easier, to help preserve her right ear and i know that she'll be ok once she can get used to using only her right ear. Her performances will be as good as new once she can get used to the change i think. When i told my japanese teacher she had gone deaf in one ear, my teacher replied that it would be ok because she too was deaf in one ear since child birth (due to a type of disease that required a very extensive surgery). she said her hearing in her right ear is now very strong, and i believe the same will happen with ayu. we just have to be patient, but we can't give up hope!

Well of course I am afraid...but you know when it comes down to it, I think we should be considering what's best for Ayu. If she's tired of being in the music business or has a change of heart...then she is always entitled to retire. I love Ayu more than any other artist and even when she goes away, she will always be my personal favorite. But I really feel that Ayu's time is almost up. Especially with the news of her being half-deaf.
I know she said she would not give up...but Ayu's popularity is declining quite a bit. I can't really explain it just seems like the end might be coming within the next 3-5 years if not shorter. I'm sorry to seem pessimistic :/

EDIT: To all of you saying she won't stop...I'm sorry but she has to stop sometime. I know she said she would be lost without music but you know, Ayu is well over one of the richest women in Asia and could stop anytime and not have to worry about money. Even when she does retire she'll probably turn out like Seiko Matsuda and perform live every once in awhile or appear on talk shows.

yea, i'm kinda afraid too.. but if she is willing to stop singing for a year, then i think of letting her go...she really needs a break..
heard that if she ever listened to the doctor's advise for having a break for a year (after she got the problem of her left ear), then she might have fully recovery... and we shouldn't have this sad news and Ayu won't have to stress..(even though, she seems not really care about it, but still she must have burden now..)

i hope she starts to take a break from this year...

i dont think she will stop singing but maybe take a break for a while would be a good idea. she basically hasnt had a break for years considering how shes been recently getting huge in countries other than japan, hence why arena tour went asia. it is indeed the 10th year anniversary and im sure it means a lot to her also, but maybe at the end of this year she should take a bit of break for a while.

If Ayu says that she'll continue on as long as she can, then she'll probably try to keep to that promise as much as possible. She will probably have to give up her career at some point though, like most singers anyway, and she could move on and do something else. She loves music though, so she might end up still working in the music industry doing something else. This really doesn't seem like an ending at the moment, it seems like the beginning of another journey so it may not be something to worry so much about. You never know what happens, sometimes things just work out in unexpected ways.

At this point, she's not going to stop as she stated so you have nothing to fear.

Ayumi is honest
always honest to her fans
she often talks about it

so I guess she won't quite if she said
or, if smth happens, probably she will?

Avex will decide it, but as I see, they are not going to let her go that fast & easily

well, it's the sake for your favorite artist to not strain herself even more..

but, we're still lucky that ayu won't stop singing..

well.. like some say in other threads.. the deafness is her left ear is caused by over-exposure to loud noises... if so, both her ears are exposed to equal amounts of noise over the years and we can't rule out the possibility that her right ear might be affected too... rest is important... but i so hope she will go on...
