Does Avex still do Copy Control?

Did they just stop putting it on the CD obis or did they discontinue it entirely. I notice that when I put in a new-ish CD it doesn't prompt me for the music player. Actually, I had forgotten all about Copy Control for the longest time but I saw an old Ayu CD obi today and I had a "oh yeah huh!" moment lol

^Yeah it is...I remember reading up on it back in the day...but I don't remember anymore.

I think most people did away with it...

I think they might still do it for rental CDs but not for retail ones.

Not that it really matters since I think it was mostly a legal thing because it was so easy to circumvent.

You're refering to that thing avex put on the CDs to avoid ripping of audio files form the CDs, right? It happened somewhere around the release of RAINBOW. But it has long been removed. After a year or so using copy controlling in their "new" (which nowadays are old lol) releases, I remember avex announcing something about it being optional for artists from then on whether they wanted their material to get copy controlled or not, and ayumi chose to remove them.

Oh I didn't know about artists opting out. I had thought that it would be automatically bypassed on newer computers though
