Losing the "Ayu" feeling...
It's been almost a year since I discovered Ayumi Hamasaki...
She has changed my life dramatically. I now lead a happier life. I'm more confident. There's one problem. I used to get this "feeling" whenever I used to listen to her music, but now I feel nothing. It's been making me so sad. I remember when I listened to rainy day, fairyland, or INSPIRE and thought, "Hell yeah, this is Ayumi Hamasaki." My heart would fill up with jubilance. Now, when I listen to her music, I hear only music. Am I making any sense? What should I do? I'm too obsessed, aren't I? Have any of you experienced the same? You just need to take a break from her! I think all Ayu fans have experienced something like this before, and if you take a break from her music for a while I'm sure you'll get the Ayu feeling back. Don't worry and don't be sad, it'll come back soon lol.

Haha, I sound like such a nerd. Yeah, I'm probably going to take a break from her, unfortunately. Hopefully, I'll get the "feeling" back when her next single is released.

Hmm...well, if you only listen to Ayu, I'm sure that's the reason why you feel like this.
If it's not..then I really don't know what to say. I love Ayu, but I listen to many other artists, so I don't listen to her 24/7.. |

i still feel that way, and it have been a year since discovering ayu...
i like to think of it as ayu was there to help me through my tough times, and no i don't feel as much cause i've learned to be a stronger person due to her lyrics, that feeling is something i will never forget, and nor do i want to experience those feelings, the way i look down on myself, wondering why do i exist, and ayu's songs have helped me through, i only hear music now, cause all those bad memories are replaced with happy ones~ do you kinda get what i'm saying?

![]() at first..i cried because her lyrics just touches so close to home, but slowly over the time, and learning about her history, seeing her lyrics evolve, from someone who didn't know her place in life from A Song for XX and then to my name's WOMEN, someone who is so confident..that just gave me strength to be stronger. i still cry sometimes when i hear a song for xx, i still get that feeling just a little bit, the feeling may slowly be gone, but the magic is always going to be there i really just can't put my appreciation to ayu in words...because i would have a hard time typing and crying, that's why i love ayu so much...her lyrics just affected me so much, i never thought a song can change my life, from the days of crying everyday because of my life, and now having the strength to smile and laugh

I've been an Ayu fan for three or four years and Ayu's songs always used to help me when I was sad. I know her songs made me realize alot of things and I'm so glad they did. I was so lonely before and I was always listening to her sad songs and thinking about how much I could relate to them. Now I've found love and for the past year I've turned away from her sad songs because I don't need them anymore, now I'm listening to more of her positive songs about love, happiness and life - but everybody needs a break from Ayu once in a while.

It's better for you to avoid listening to her songs all the time, try to listen to a diversity of songs and maybe you can try downloading some of her concerts and watch them, and you will learn to appreciate the songs even more and at the same time the feeling will return again!

I don't think I've listened to an Ayu song in a LONG while other than Who...
tbh, I don't really need to listen to her songs to justify my fandom. It's like really now. I know most of them by heart and it's nice to listen to her albums in huge spurts, but to listen to her 24/7 and so on.. is kinda dumb.

I started listening to Ayu in 2003, and the compositional genius of her songs is what made them have the ayu feeling for me...and then I discovered in her lyrics that she could put into words so many of the things that I couldn't.
Now, I feel like the "ayu feeling" has gone out of her newer works, but I still get the feeling when I listen to her old songs, or when I watch her concerts. I don't listen to her that much anymore, but I still have great respect for her as an artist and a person, and I think I do really love her. While I don't feel the same about her new works, losing that feeling for me, has allowed me to look at ayu in another way that is more objective, and while I'm disappointed, I think it has allowed me to evolve as a fan, and so in a way, I'm happy with the way things have turned out.

I started off back in 2004/5, and I didn't really become a fan until 2006 (it was around May), and later on I realized I love Ayu more than anyone else. I also had a really hard time back then, and her music helped me a lot through it. As truehappiness said there are a couple of songs I know well but I rarely listen to them nowdays. I don't listen to her 24/7 as there are many other artists I love, but every few days I kinda have a little ayu session with just her songs shuffling in foobar, and after a couple of songs I am like ok Just one more and I am off to bed XD, though I usually stay up for hours. I never felt like the Ayu magic was gone, sure I am not always in the mood to feel sad/happy about it~ like if I am doing other things like studying and listening to ayu, I won't concentrate on the music that much ^^ so naturally I won't feel a thing.

When I listen to her recent songs, I hear only music.
But when I listen to previous songs like Carols, I have the feeling, and that few particular songs can bring me back in time and experience the happiness again. For example, Carols is linked to the 2004 December, and somehow I categorized my lifetime with Ayu songs. Voyage times, Carols times, Inspire times. |

yeah i guess you need to maybe take a break from ayu's music or so ...
relax, listen to other artiste's songs for a few weeks.. and then go back to listening to ayu's music. Maybe the ayu feeling will be back.or you can try listening to different ayu songs or songs by her which u have never heard before. I do that sometimes when i'm sick of listening to her music in a whole day just a suggestion..

I get that feeling regularly these days, because I haven't really liked Ayu's singles much, but then she releases an album with songs I like better, and I listen to them for a while until I get bored, then I listen to something else for a while. I've just rediscovered some of her older songs through A COMPLETE, so I'm happy now, though that will go sometime. It gets boring listening to one artist all the time, so I change to others until I feel like listening to a particular artist again.

ayumi isn't my favorite artist, but she is ONE of my favorite artists. so i honestly don't listen to her everyday. but right now, i'm listening to her coincidently, lol. i only got into her music last year (well, late 2006, at least), so i didn't even hear her older discography. just from MY STORY and up. but even so, i still love her music, even though i don't really have that same musical connection as some of you might have.
i just enjoy her music and i respect ayumi, so it's good for me.

mmm I can't understand what you are feeling... i know ayu since 2003 end, and since the first moment I was in love with her! there was no other but her! But with time I learned how to listen ayu the way it is: she is a singer and her lyrics, her songs, her performances make me happy, I've learned a lot of thing from her lyrics... But I listen other singers also, no only ayu... even Ayu is the SPECIAL ONE, it will never change!! But ayu's music and lyrics have the meaning we want to give them.
So I don't think we have to stop listening sad or dark songs because we aren't sad... I can listen music that aren't connected with my animic status... Also I don't thing her lastest songs lost the ayu feeling... Ayu have changed and her songs are a Mirror to the ayu who is writing this song... a mirror to the moment she wrote it... no more... idk.. maybe you only have to think about ayu's song in another way... only one year... is like you have absorved all ayu music, all ayu music from this 10 years in only one... take a break to rediscover Ayu ^^
