For someone who doesn't like kuu, they will make up all the excuses not to hear her doing anything about glorious ayu anyway. I love kuu ballads, and I can actually picture her doing a pleasant cover of Dearest anyway.

More like because koda kumi's voice is so odd and dark in a weird way, it sounds like she sings from her stomach. For me, it's rather uncomfortable to listen to.

I agree with who ever said that Dearest w/ kuu would sound like the piano version of you, which I don't think is that bad. There was a time that I didnt care for kuu ballads, cuz i really liked her other stuff, but i've been more into them lately and her voice and how it blends with the music.

I think it would be kind of odd, but...it could be successful. I think that, if they really wanted to have fun with kuu, they should have her do something from (m)u lol; Now that would be interesting.

Well covering a song is not about making it sound the exact same way it did. I think an artist covering a song can add their own vocal elements to turn that song into a slightly different experience.

I personally think kuu would be able to do a much better version of kanariya then ayu did Now that was a song in which undeniably ayu vocals grates on everybody's ears, much worse than any kuu ballad can. ayu's very far from a vocal goddess anyway....


On a side note: If such album were ever made, I believe M would already be reserved for the actual Dream cover. Since avex loves to recycle, I don't think they'd waste the chance to use a cover that already exists LOL

I certainly don't agree with all the kumi's voice sound bad in ballads thingy, but I actually like ayu's kanariya (mainly the Jonathan Peters' Vocal Club Mix) and it wouldn't be the same kanariya without ayu's young voice

Well, I love both kuu ballads and ayu's kanariya (it's in fact one of my most favprite ayu songs).The fact I criticize it doesn't directly reflect my feelings about the song. I'm basing those in general assumptions/opinions I've read in this forum or from opinions from other people I've heard about that song, and I don't exactly disagree when they complain about her vocals in kanariya - I like them raw like that but I can see the point in ppl saying her vocals are not the best in that song - they just aren't.

They weren't her best vocals but I think the song would have a different feeling without them squeakings, maybe dull

kumi's voice in her ballads is awesome, specially in you

People should drop the artists hate in this forum, it's really getting old (and I wrote artists since there is enough ayu hate as well).

There is a difference between hate and an opinion. Isn't that exactly what all the Koda Kumi lovers use as argument when they trash whatever ayu releases?

Whether you like someone's voice or not, whether you like someone's music or not, whether you think someone's voice will match a certain song well or not, isn't it all a matter of opinion?
In my case, the main thing that turns me off Kumi's music is her voice. I don't think she's a bad singer, I think it's pretty obvious that she sings quite a lot better than Ayu did in the beggining of her career. Her tone just doesn't appeal to me
That's why I'd rather not hear her sing Dearest - not because I hate her, just because if a cover album was released I'd like to hear things that I enjoy.
