@ayumiisrael: Hmm I agree ^^

Though to me he has to come up with some bloody brilliant PV before he can redeem himself as he's doing all those awful fish mouth Ayu shoots and got Ayu started to act melodramatic (..at least, I THINK before (d)Lma/MW Ayu never acted melodramatic?)

@ImpactBreaker: Wait......people complained about the INSPIRE PV? That ***** is awesome O_O

Those people should be forced to watch through Kuu's Kingdom PVs (no offense Kuu <3 lol)

I loved it!

Especially the lesbic scenes xD I liked when Midori and Ayu were flirting as she sung lol

the only bad things:

-camera bounced too much at the beggining
-the guys practicing outside the theater (not bad, just LMAO!)
- The change from da ugly white thing-to red thing- to white thing (lol wut?)

Besides that, I loved it.

It was almost like hell. The majority of the members here were saying how ayu had lost it and how it was the most horrible piece of crap she had ever had put, and how it was extremely outrageous of her to dare put dance in a PV and even attempt to do that on the beach ahahha How her red lipstick was absurd and that she looked like a *****, and that they weren't really recognizing that as ayu. A lot of the things that are being said here were said that time: how the PV had weird edition, how ayu was too dramatic dancing on the beach, how everything was disconnected and didn't make sense, and was unnecessary; how the "older stuff" was so much more superior. So much whining doesn't date back from her recent releases only... LOL

fish mouth lol XDD.
Yeah he shouldn't make all of them melodramatic, with that I agree.
There should be some differences hopefully from now on.
Yeah People complained on every PV since around that time.
Maybe just 2-3 got really good reviews from most. INSPIRE is great.

( Since I got my Kingdom copy I think I watched the 2nd DVD more than the PVs one , the 1st DVD really makes me run to watch some ayu videos lol.)

WTH! INSPIRE was the bomb.
I fairly liked GREEN as I begin to watch it more and more, it is understandable.

I agree.
INSPIRE has *******ing awesome lyrics, and that PV is all over the place.
It's like, Ayu in LA, she sees a billboard and ... CUE the bad dancing, make-up and costumes! Also add some very random crap in there to make it "mysterious"!

...

I don't get people saying 2006 and onwards have been her bad PV years. Most of her first videos sucked until I am... and even then until Memorial Address. MY STORY era has some good PVs like Moments and walking proud but also very bland and pointless ones for songs like GAME and such. At least GREEN has an f-ing point...

^your opinions are interesting lol i've found that this generation of ahs members really love GAME and dislike walking proud. lol I actually love walking proud though...so it's sad lol

After looking through all the pages in this thread, I have concluded that everyone just feels differently and likes different things.

I think this PV is gorgeous, but I still feel it was open ended...I don't watch Ayu's PVs for a lot of meaning or anything, of course it's totally awesome when it's there, and afterwards, it does make me like and appreciate the PV more, but if I'm not entertained...then...I'm sorry, I'm not going to watch it.

The perfect example of this, would be Daybreak. It's awesome, but it's simply not entertaining.

I want to see PVs to be entertained...And I think...that should be Ayu's job foremost, since she is in fact an entertainer. Of course she is an artist as well, and she has her own ideas, but I think that sometimes in her PVs, her ideas can become lost in something that...maybe we don't necessarily want to watch. And whether it's the directors fault or whatever, I don't know.

I think she did a very good job with this PV, and I really appreciate everything Ayu does in her PVs for us fans.

However, I think for this PV, it really was the fault of the director. I mean, when a movie has a bad ending...who are you going to blame...the actors, the scriptwriter? what if it wasn't his intended ending? That happens all the time in movies. Most people would say to the director "hey what the hell." And I think that really is the problem here. When compared to some other PVs its not so bad as a whole...but it really is disappointing to finish.

They wouldn't? Then why do they? lol. And yes, as far as I can tell Ayumi does get to choose her directors, - I mean the only reason that Takehide Ishii got involved at all is because Ayu knew him in the past if I'm not mistaken. It's true that most artists don't get to choose, but artists with as much power as Ayumi get at least a say in the matter if not outright choosing themselves.

Because ayu is in avex and they wouldn't let her use a director that ruins her promotion. Those directors must be enough for making PVs with good promotion if "we" don't like them, the japanese crowd sure are. If he would be a screw ass director ayu could want him to direct her PVs as much as she wanted, it doesn't mean avex would allow him in. She's their artist after all.
ayu still doesn't work in her own independent company.

Okay well let's say it like this.

Obviously Ayu liked the PV. I'm pretty sure she gets to watch the PV and decide on changes while working together with the director. I'm sure Ayu wouldn't decide to show a PV to her loving fans if she wasn't happy with it herself, right?

As much as people don't like this video in its entirety, I feel like the Japanse might like it even more They have different tastes, so I guess the older audience (Ayumi's audience) will feel this video

I'm under the impression that Ayu does choose her the directors herself and she has much more input in her own image & music than the average avex artist.

though I'd assume that her pick has to be accepted by the people at her team responsible for the funding and her executive producers.

I think her management can mostly only influence the PV making process on the planning and concept level, I believe the director is solely responsible for the final product.

in general I think Avex is the best at making PV's, there's this air of quality about most Avex PVs even for the less popular artists compared to artists on sony & toshiba and etc. even artists like Ami Suzuki have really cool & pricey-looking PVs eventho their sales are in the thousands only ...

ayu still doesn't work in her own independent company.
You would be right if this was a full-length 2 hour movie. If she requests a certain director they would put him as the #1 priority, its then the director's decision to accept the offer or not. If she had issues with the director they would get rid of the director. This is just a music video. The star is the artist, others are expendable at a low cost.

Really? I dunno how anyone could not like INSPIRE from the first look.

I have my overall complaints about the PV but I don't think its the worst PV. For me its above average, probably like a 6-7 on a 10 scale. I have enjoyed most of her recent work though. As for others, people are probably overreacting since they had high expectations after hearing the song.

But that's not the point.
People are too harsh about the directors, avex wouldn't let ayu use a director that wouldn't make her PVs that wouldn't promote the songs well that's for sure. avex still doesn't let their artists independancy to choose whoever who might crap it.
People just became spoiled or just made it a habbit to complain about things casually. Of course we need to see flaws but the only thing that there is here are over the top exaggerations will all honesty. Poor ishii people think that he's the devil or something.

And Mirrorcle World had no dancers in it.
+ ayu's melodramatic (aka acting over-dramatic and divaish) are a part of the story conveying and also the promotional figuring like all PVs should have.
Those types of PVs are much better than most other jpop singers PVs those days. At least she's not showing an animated PV (one was enough with Connected), singing in a train or fake crying into a cell phone. Melodrama is better (at least imo).
When I look at those PV I say thank you ayu for making "divaish" expressions to give a certain feeling and sometimes fierncess into the dramatic scenes or feeling of the PV instead of the top things being said.
lol, this isn't even called harsh. Students in art schools have it much worst. Improvements stems from honest complaints and I wish I could send an entire thread of complaints to this director and Ayu because honestly, this was a poorly made PV. I think Ayu should switch up her directors to show some variety instead of seeing the same things done over and over again. I believe having both MW and Green directed consecutively by the same director is giving the impression that he is recycling.
