From the previews it sounds REALLY pretty.
It has piano, violings and a kind of R&B beats into it. ayu's voice is really mellow and I really like it. I liked Sunrise A LOT too and it might be my favorite summer song of ayu but I might like Sunset more but I dunno yet what eventually I will feel towards them, I mean as which one I like more. |

I've listened to full song now a couple of times. Sunset is just beautiful, the melody suits a ballad so much better. It's the better of the two A-Sides on the single

i'm listening to the full thing and i love it.. and i LOVE how long it is! i really wanted another long ayu ballad since the ones on NL seemed too short. omg, it's soo pretty though.. the music and her voice.. i love Sunrise but i think this might be better. but it doesn't really matter which one is better because i love them both so much.. omg..
sry fangirl mode i'm just so happy with this single ;_; Last edited by love in music; 5th August 2009 at 10:09 PM. |

Suprisingly better song than i thought..But i still think that Sunrise is a bit better. (Possibly because it was just released first and im more used to it)

So this song is really interesting.
I'm really happy that they've decided to bring the piano back into the spotlight in the arrangement. I also think that the background arrangement work is really interesting. Well, what's interesting is that HAL took a very non-versatile composition, and made an arrangement for it that is very versatile. I mean the background has it's own thing totally going on, the chords and the melody in the strings, which is really nice, because they give the song a very distinctive feel. I also really like that the bridge (I think) in this version, meshes so much better than it does in Sunrise. Here it's very natural, in Sunrise, it seems a bit thrown in, because the melody changes so drastically, so fast. But here, slow, I think it's a HUGE improvement. One of my friends was saying that they feel Sunrise was made after Sunset, and you know, I mean, despite the obvious things that is wasnt, like the beat and the chords in the background, I kinda feel too that Sunset was the first song. At least I feel that the composition goes a lot better with the tone and tempo of Sunset. I don't like the song very much, just because it's not a song I listen to, but I'm very pleasantly surprised, and I don't think it sounds that generic anymore, although it reminds me of Disney ballads ![]() I think it's a very very good song, and I do think that now it IS the redeeming factor for this single. (sorry for the really long post)

In reply to emiko...I thought the arranger was confirmed to be yuta nakano and not HAL?

Wow, I listened to the full version and it's SO boring! Oh my... It's probably the most boring Ayu song to me, along with no more words. Even Close to you and forgiveness is less boring. ;_;

... the first two lines made it go shivers down my spine! Love it! I love the contrast in her vocals compared to sunrise! I like this version as much as sunrise....

I don't know if it was because I was sad to begin with, but I got teary when the song started. Sunset is a very pretty song, I mean, it doesn't feel like epic or gradiose, but very quiet and laid back. it doesn't try to be grandiose, and that's kinda what I like about it. The big failure of Days was it tried to hard to be grandiose and beautiful, it would have been much better if it didn't try so hard. Sunset pulls off a big emotional feeling using a laid back and more quiet feeling.
I like it, I don't know if I like it quite as much as Sunrise, but it's really pretty

Days was good, but it had a lot of flaws. The laid backness of Sunset would have done Days good, that's the only reason I made the comparison.

Sunset is just OK for me. Its really something that should be a B-side or on a remix album or something, not an A-side. The music and melody are pretty, but there isn't really anything about it that jumps out and grabs me. Also I think Ayu's voice sounds quite weak on the track.

I'm not sure, especially the interval during which she sings (ookina ai wo saken dara in sunrise. It's not bad, but for such a calm and soothing ballad, it disrupts somehow the mood. I think maybe it would've been better if sung a different note with a different harmony (Kept prolonging the preceeding onw maybe) to soften the phrase. Simply my opinion, even if I love the song. The drawback is that it would certainly be more mellow and maybe less interesting after such a change.

It sounds like it's intentionally weak if anything, though.. imo.

^ I just don't think it sounds very good though, intentional or not.
