I have the exact feeling. Most of the time, I feel like the songs that I personally LOVE are loathed by people because they're 'cheesy' or something.
Cases in point: Life (I made a thread similar to this a while ago... haha.) Born To Be... ANGEL'S SONG Beautiful Day winding road Replace meaning of Love Thank U I feel like, it's got this sort of retro-pop feel that I really respond to. It's so much better than its original, "Beautiful Girl" imo and I think it's one of Ayu's highly underrated tracks. But hey, not everyone can love everything, I guess. It tends to happen with her cuter tracks that have been released after the point where a lot of fans from 2002/2003 left the fandom. I think it's just some sort of rose-colored glasses effect with past works vs. her newer stuff. I almost kind of wonder if people are listening to the same songs I am when they're critiquing, haha.
