I agree with you on the production, but I still don't count it as one of hers.... Just mainly becuase it is not on an album...

^Yeah that's pretty up to every man themselves to say what songs counts as.

She have many songs that didn't got into albums though. Like Mirrorcle World or Ever free but they still counts as her. Even though Dream ON isn't counted as her "51th" singel, it's still listed on her discography on her official website. It make me think, it's the latest single "with" her... Aw... 2010 looks like a long time ago now.

There is/was so much negativity on her collabs on AHS that I've given up searching for reasons. And I don't care. Ayu does what she wants now and I love it. I remember her being hurt so much at all the negative things at last years a-nation. I hope the one thing she learned from all this is to STILL do what she wants even if people throw tantrums. Don't like a collab? Don't listen to it, don't buy it. But stop moaning about it. Every. Single. TIME.

Someone said UN was in Tokyo at the same time as Ayu and then people started going nuts on nothing.

There was nothing confirmed, Ayu didn't tweet about it. Nothing.

Oh I'm very glad to hear ayu is coming to LA again. I really hope it is to relax...but a small part of me hopes she will be meeting fans, too. I really will not miss the opportunity if it comes up this time around.

It might be because, well, don't be shocked - Naoya actually lives in Tokyo. This must mean a new Collab. Of course, when they meet it always means that they are recording ANother Song together. They couldn't be real friends who spent time together for fun, no.

Mostly old tweets and old magazine articles. There are alot of translations of talks with Ayu and her directors. One of the sites that had the oldest articles has been gone for 5 years or more, I read alot off of it before it vanished, now I go to Misa chan's blog. And a few I've seen people disagree with me on, came straight from translations of TA diaries written by Ayu herself.

Even though she don't direct her PV's, she's pretty clear on how they should look like. Even from her early years up until now. Like Days or Fly High or BALLAD (as you can see in the making of). I think she does way more than many other pop artist does with their music videos.

When she did the CNN interview in english she said she wouldnt leave any decisions to anyone else until she started trusting people she had worked with many times. Although reading alot of old diary entries and her tweets, it is easy to tell she has never made as many decisions as she acts like for her image. She's told TA numerous times that she is getting asked to do things she is uncomfortable with many times. Probably why some interview answers to questions sound so scripted and so opposite of how she seems to really be.

I think what she meant was that how a concert/album/single/PV is being produced/presented. But ultimately, the company have the control on when and how many albums/singles to be released/promoted it's under her contract terms which she cant do much about it.
example would be like A BEST. Avex decided a best album. Ayu cant say no. But she decided to redo some of the songs as a rebellious act against avex.

Why are people so put off by a collab from Ayu. She'd been singing solo her whole career. You get one mini album that had a couple collabs, and frankly I found that even the solo tracks sucked, save for Brilliante, which can also be seen as a collab of sorts, and everyone goes nutty. She may work on a collab with different people someday and make an epic track. Don't assume collab automatically means bad. Calm your panties down, please.

I for one love ANother song.. that's one of my most played from FIVE.

I know there were a few threads a looong while ago asking why Ayu is always a solo artist. Well, she's doing a few collabs here in there~ nothing wrong with that!
As long as she's doing what she loves. I don't think she cares about sales or pleasing avex. And that's a relief. She's not really a "product" anymore.

I always loved the idea of Ayu working with other people, cause...she was always so by herself, it was kinda off putting...

after 5...um meh, I couldn't care less who she works with now.

I guess the hardest part is acceptance. I mean, I still look forward to Ayu's music, but I have come to realize why it's so heartbreaking when it's not exactly what I expect or am hoping for. There was a time, when Ayu's music was the best out there. Very little compared to the material she released, in my mind. No matter what genre I'd compare it to, looking back, it just felt like the music she was releasing at the peak of my fandom was absolutely perfect. Outstanding. It felt like her music was so damn unique and somehow felt like it was made just for me and my tastes. Now-a-days, it's hit and miss. Most of the time I'd rather be listening to trance (and I have always been an EDM fam since I was a child).

I'm sorry, you guys can blame marketing and overexposure and whatever you want.

When you have an artist who's voice so resonates with a generation the way Ayu's did back then, you have something damn special.

She's still my favourite artist and all. But the last time I was OMG-THIS-IS-LIKE-SO-FREAKING-AMAZING-I-THINK-I'LL-DIE!!! about new material was 2 years ago, around R'n'RC. Now I'm just looking forward to see whats coming up next and secretly hoping that something like 1998-2010 Ayu will come up again.

I'm now speaking for myself, I listen to ayu's song to hear ayu, not any other artist. Don't get me wrong, I personally like UN's voice I've never heard anything like JUNO's awesome voice, and Timmy did a great job in BRILLANTE as well.

It's just that from all those collabs I either like (not love) or really dislike them. Like Why... ft. JUNO is a song I really like, while dream ON, ANother song, BRILLANTE and Happening Here are songs I really don't like. With other words, 4/5 of those collabs don't appeal to me, so I rather don't want them.

And I agree with Zeke.
