Can Ayu write a sexually themed song?
Does Ayu have it in her to write a song about something of a sexual nature? Or possibly wanting someone in that way? Or even her feelings surrounding the subject? I know her Sparkle PV had a kinky theme in it, with her wearing latex and being surrounded by a group of guys. Very nice for those who like it. Could a song of this nature even tie in with the type of music she does?
This question was brought on by a post in another thread and has me wondering. |

IMO the sexiness of Sparkle PV was more ridiculous than arousing. xD And her 'sexy handgestures' from the live performance were ridiculous, too, so I'm not sure if she has it in her lolol.

I think sparkle lyrics hints at something and remember that sparkle was frowned apon a little in Japapn (I still dont know fully why) but I dont think thats ayus style in lyrics and I dont think she would ever because its not her, she always writes her feelings into her lyrics etc so I dont see ayu doing anything like koda, for example, any time soon, or sparkle style songs are the closest we will ever get

---- On topic though. Ayu doesn't need to write explicit lyrics she can just hint at things visually for instance the PVs of Because of You, my name's WOMEN. Also you can't argue she's used sexual imagery in her live performances too (GAME, STEP you, identity, etc.) |

I think her fans, especially her Japanese fans would go insane if she did. I hope she doesn't. I enjoy Koda's music, and Namie has some sexually explict lyrics as well... But it's not Ayu's style to go there, if she does it's a sign og desperacy IMO.. But I don't think she will.. I rather her write about feelings and blue skies, destiny and lost love...^^

I don't care about lyrics. If the song sounds good - it's good. No matter what the lyrics are.
But Ayu is most known for her lyrics.. so if she writes sexual stuff... yeah her fans would go nuts lol |

I can say that if she tries to write it and produce it, then everyone will just say she is copying Koda Kumi. It doesn't relate to her image, and her lyrics kind of dont even allow for it, cause she always writes about profound things. I can tell that her sales would drop to their lowest.
I dont want her to do it, because it's not her. The performance of Identity at Next Level wasnt that well received, and when Otsuka Ai tried more sexual lyrics, her sales dropped so much... so I wish she doesn't. |

When Ayu does sex...it's more broad, all encompassing. Like Sparkle.
When you talk about sex like Koda or Namie, I mean usually they're talking about going through the act...but Ayu doesn't really talk about things in that respect, she usually has a bigger vision, more time, more feelings revolving around a situation. I know she could do like an in-the-moment type thing...and probably has, I don't remember, but i'm sure it'd be about something like love, and even then she'd scope out.

I remember some members mentioned that the lyrics were quite sexual in nature, but when they were translated, people wondered what the heck they were talking about. In the end, I think most of us concluded that Sparkle was misinterpreted as being sexual at first glance, but later was confirmed to not be true. (Referring to masa's comment in his Sparkle translation thread: "If we say "look on enviously" in Japanese without using the idiom, it should be "urayamashi sou ni mite iru". As you see, it's far longer than "yubi o kuwaeru". And I feel it's smart and poetic to use this idiom than to say "urayamashi sou ni mite iru" in direct way." and "I repeat my comment on the page 4 of this thread. "Yubi o kuwaeru" is not a slang but an idiom we commonly use with no sexual image. It means "do nothing but look on something (someone) enviously"." Note many people "wanting the song to have actually been sexual." in the comments for the thread.)

I remember reading LOTS of comments from Japanese blogs and such which talked about how the inconsistency between the languages was out of character for Ayu.

Do you have any examples of the blogs that mention that? It's a bit strange to think that Japanese bloggers would be all up in arms over something like that. masa did mention how he felt a little disappointed in the first verse because of the BOYS/GIRLS thing sounding unusual though. It does seem a bit uncharacteristic for Ayu, but then again Sparkle itself was rather... uncharacteristic for Ayu as well. The music style and PV were both very out there in a very un-Ayu-like place.
Looking up BOYS達 and GIRLS達 in goo.jp's blog search seems to have a few people using the phrases in their blogs outside of quoting Sparkle. Like "Oh, here are my girls-tachi!" or "The cast's BOYS-tachi.."

I actually think she should have one song that talks about sex. But not something like, "Oh yeah, come here, my massive breasts need your hot warm spray, shake it shake it " xDDD but something more profound, or at least a slight reference to it, I don't know. She practically has covered most of human feelings, but those related to physical desire, she is missing, imo.

I actually don't see ayu writing or singing anything sexual
If she does I would be like wtf O.o and is because ayu doesns't need to be all sexual to get herself popular Sparkle was sexy to me but NOT like "ooooh I wanna hit that" no "just like oooh she's sexy beautiful" |

I'm sure she could certainly make something that would cause us all to blush, if she tried. Only problem is, it would be awkward, hah... (Not necessarily in a totally bad way - think of the Wacoal ads, like that. ) And that's not her. :\ Like, her slightly joking about sexuality (Sparkle) is a surprise to most people, and that's as far as I can see her going. Sure, sometimes she'll wear an occasional sexy concert or PV outfit (1 LOVE, my name's WOMEN, etc.), but I really doubt she'll ever sing about anything real dirty....unfortunately.

Really... why does a song about sex NEEDS to be explict or pornographic? Really, what's wrong with u guys? xD
Sex is a part of romance, what is a theme she is used to! About sparkle... the "liking fingers" thing on the song is like this: http://www.8pgames.com/novo/wallpapers/bebe3.jpg not like this: http://n1.cdn.spikedhumor.com/1/4230...81280x1024.jpg We have a similar idiom here on Brazil, so, I got really surprised about how many people found it sexual here on AHS Her Sparkle live performance has no sexual moviments and is not intented to be sexual at all |

Ayu can do anything she wants if she really wants to. But with her personality, and nature she was brought up in, she probably wouldn't do it. She could though.

I thought Sparkle was well received. I didn't know, it wasn't that risque. *cough* latex. I see Koda as hot not sexy. Sexy is more like Namie. gothicayu I would go into cardiac arrest. Shake it was just too hot~ She'd most likely use Shuya as the main guy in the video. I couldn't imagine her backup singers Peco and Yoko dancing in the video though... hpg23 LOL Crystal_Ageha The wacoal ad was too much for my brain to process at the time. It was sexy, but awkward. >.< It's interesting how colorful the responses are in this thread. Her sexual imagery in PVs and live performances are still on the cuter side of the spectrum for me. I think it's in the way she presents herself. It could just be my own warped view of her. I'd sooner associate myself with sexiness than I would her! Looks can be deceiving ya know. She could have her own personal hidden Madonna inside for all we know. lol. I've never seen her do any type of booty shaking, but she did innocently bend over for Shuya on her Identity performance at NL. lol Even if it may not be her, reflecting on it, she could make it her own if she were to do a sexy song. She writes beautifully and I'm sure she could use symbolism or be as vague as she wants without making it sleazy. It'd be a good challenge, and an amazing feat to see her pull it off. I'd still go nuts though. I think before she gives up music when she's like 80 or something she should do at least one sexual song just to say she's written about everything. Because she nearly has. I just thought of how cute it'd be to see Ayu as a senior citizen singing in her chipmunk voice! Cute! |
