Yeah, especially when you could barely place Ayu into a single genre as the majority of her songs don't have a strongly defined genre. And you can't just classify her as POP cuz the music she doesn't isn't really all that popular atm.

Technically pop does mean popular music. But its a sound too. Its possible for a song to be pop but not popular in terms of sales success and that. And how is Ayu's music not popular? o____O

and her summer single sales have been dropping with each release; but now with 4 versions, who knows?

And sales in general have been dropping every year. It's not like it's just Ayu who is selling less. Though Sunrise did way better than most of her other summer songs when it came to digital sales. Oh, she also skipped out on summer for whatever reason in 2008. It's nice to know that Rock'n'Roll Circus' gap is so much smaller than most other acts who have decreasing sales. I wonder what the final number will be~

(The last few Oricon weeks for singles and albums have been terrible! But things are also kind of shaky in America too, haha. Apparently last week for Billboard / Soundscan was the lowest week for total albums ever recorded since it started?)

On a positive side, Ayu's single sales don't always go down, which is a good thing. She most likely skipped the single for summer 2008 cuz of the tour plus the fact A COMPLETE was released in September~

I read that too. The United World Charts have also broken the record of "lowest no. 1" twice in a row fairly recently.

So nice to know it's not just the Japanese industry that's failing! XD

I think people are overreacting with the sales thing :S If Arashi's new single was a problem, Avex would have changed the release date, I think.

^ Yup. If for some reason avex believe ARASHI is a significant threat, you best believe they'll cop out. XD Sad, but true. But either way, this will still be close, I'm sure. So I'm interested in seeing how far off the sales will be.

well single sales for Johnny's generally nosedive a great deal especially 2nd week onwards

you can have a single that sold 500K & above in the 1st week but probably 40K-60K in the 2nd week

I'm sure MOON / blossom is able to pull though but like what I said before , nobody has mentioned whether Himuro Kyosuke-san might be a threat to her ? :O

then again his new single will only be released in 2 editions ...
