^ Even if the tour stayed the same budget, still different things can be done. And if artists paid for their own concerts and music videos, I don't think we would see very many getting made.

^I never said she paied everything, just that is not impossible that Avex has a fixed budget for her and she has to pay herself for everything else...

If everything was paied by Avex, Koda Kumi big concerts would start as soon as she entered on her peak, and not on the end of it...

How have her concerts been the same for 5 years...? They all look different to me. Someone please explain?

They are not all exactly the same, but I guess because of the fact that most of her tours post-AT05 have had very similar themes/elements from that concert, people think that they are.

Ever since AT05, interlude movies and the hanamichi (flower road/runway) have been present at the tours and COUNTDOWN LIVES (after 05-06). There has also been at least a couple of the following in terms of themes repeated since then including: sexual!performance w/ female dominance [male/female dance teams switch off between two or more songs], light-hearted/super-cute performance, ballad section featuring a male dancer prominently, dancing alone while Ayu sings making dramatic motions, and a segment where she sings a new song or two with a bunch of classics near the end of the concert. She also can at times reuse performance elements (ex. Moments -> Pride -> part of Me) from AT05. Also, as of late, tissue performances have been featured at every big live since CDL07-08. (including CDL07-08, there have been five tissue performances) This is just a sample of why people might feel that the concerts have been "same-y" and why most seem to feel that AT05 has been one of her most innovative tours post-DT01 since it was the last time things felt "fresh." From what I can see, the only thing that Ayu needs to do to satisfy those who feel as though they aren't happy with her concerts nowadays is to simply try new things and explore different ways to present her music during the lives. Perhaps strip away the theming that has been so prevalent since 2005 and just perform as she did from 2000-2004? But even if she did do that, it seems likely even that would "get old" with fans. So maybe the problem isn't really with Ayu's concerts, but that some fans are just very picky about what they get from Ayu. (i.e. It would be fine to see the tissue dances at one, two, even three lives! But now it's getting old!)

Upto Until that Day, the vocals are the worst they've ever been and I can't stop laughing at the dancers in their wifebeaters and baggy jeans. The INSPIRE and Because of You performances were great but it's all very Ayu on auto-pilot.

Her vocals were really bad, the outfits were so-so, the choice of songs were boring, but I really liked how she performed.

Just a really short piece of what I thought.

I absolutely loved this CDL. I personally can be quite naive when I choose to be, so her vocals didn't bother me too much. Personally the track list was very close to being perfect! Favourite performances were I am..., About You and INSPIRE. The overall atmosphere she brought was amazing as always, I can't wait until they touch up her vocals for the DVD!! Then I will be in HEAVEN!

For me this concert was absolutely disappointing............. The choise of the songs, the order of the songs and the outfits were very insuitable for me. All the concert was like... boring!! That was the meaning of "future classics"? I don't understand nothing.

The stage setup seemed like a mash-up to me and very gothic and "dark"..
A mix of AT05 stage (those flowery designs and the two big walls with curtains on each side of the central screen), AT07 stage (the big A sign at the top of the screen) and CDL0809's circle stage in the middle of the arena.
Maybe because of that, the stage looked bigger than usual and more detailed LOL.

I like the theme of this countdown live. gothic and rock! I hope next year's countdown theme is ballad LOL.

Btw, is there any audio technical difficulty during the live recording.
It's like she's been using her backup singer's mic to sing LOLOL.

Yeah, it seemed like a mash-up, and that appears to be exactly what Ayu was going for. Unless for some reason I'm reading too much into it, but it seems to fit together too well to be simply coincidence.

After watching the concert a few times, the entire setlist seems to have been created with past concepts working together in mind, to bring the performances into the future. Or something like that.

01. I am...-intro and performance from AT02, taiko drummers from CDL05-06
02. Moments - performance was from AT05, camera trick and fan dance from AT05
-inst- - tissue dance introduced in CDL07-08 was inserted here
03. STEP you - performance from CDL07-08 + Ladies Night transition, mixed with "cute" elements from CDL08-09 and possibly the clowns from A MUSEUM
04. EnergizE - performance from AT09, mixed with "cute" elements from CDL08-09 and possibly the clowns from A MUSEUM
-inst- - jam session by Yocchan... any tour's could apply... AT06's? The ones at a-nation?
05. About You - performance kind of from AT05 without dancers, solo and was standalone
-inst- - Midomaro/Maroring ballad dance from AT09
06. momentum - performed a bit like the beginning of the AT09 ballad section, had something like rainy day's finale at AT06 with a couple being lifted into the air by the end of the song
07. You were... - performed a bit like CAROLS from AT05 on the rotating stage
-inst- - Shu-ya solo dances from a-nation and the like mixed with more elaborate version of ring performance from AT07ish
08. Pride - Shu-ya solo dance mixed with AT06-ish performance and gospel choir from CDL05-06 (and others) and rainy day AT06 finale is kind of touched upon again with a couple being hoisted up
09. INSPIRE - intro music, performance and style from AT05, walked around arena/stages however
10. Because of You - performance/vibe from AT03-04, new microphone/sword prop instead of the stand, performed on middle rotating stage instead of main stage
11. 1 LOVE - performance from AT07, not much was changed
12. until that Day... - performance from AT07, not much was changed
(countdown) - no Ayu speaking in English this time around...
13. Humming 7/4 - the usual
14. evolution - the usual
15. Startin' - performance from CDL05-06/AT06, placed at the end of main act
(encore)
16. teddy bear - performance from AT03-04, sitting on arm of the chair though
17. Sunrise ~LOVE is ALL~ - performance kind of from AT09, but more like a-nation '09 than anything
18. Boys & Girls - the usual
19. RED LINE ~for TA~ - brand new dance, replacing MY ALL

I wonder if it's just me, haha. But it appears that basically the entire show was crafted using past materials, much like BoCDL06-07, but with more creative changes in outfits and such. Quite a bit was taken from AT05 which makes me wonder if she'll try to break away from it in the coming AT10. It is a bit nice that the CDLs are becoming less and less like shows that she throws together and actually sort of feel like her tours nowadays since CDL07-08 just without any video interludes.

Big problem I have with this concert's footage so far: Why the heck does the entire main concert segment sound like Ayu was muted out!? It only got fixed during the encore singing segments...

I wonder when they shortened the Alice dress. About You's dress also appeared to be longer and without the tutu.

but Ayu's stage appearance is really good,i love how she interact with the audience. i love when she smile at the beginning of the Inspire and the choreography is a bit different than AT05 and that cool mic for BoY
thank god there's no shuya for You were...XDD

but i cant stop laughing each time i watch Step You/Energize performance, the dancers just hilarious, sometimes like a fool (ooppss)

Hm, is it just me or is the vibrato in this concert toned WAY down compared to say, AT09?

Hmm, I haven't seen the recorded TV version, so not really sure about what you guys are talking about when you say ayu's voice is bad. I was there at that CDL, and she sounded perfectly well live. In fact, when she started the show off with "I am...", I honestly thought her voice couldn't be better.

As for Future Classics, I think that most of the songs she chose to put into this setlist do stand up to the title of being a "classic". To me, each song defines one aspect of ayu, and the setlist covers every major era of her 11 year career.

She said in one TEAMAyu blog entry that we'll understand why she named the concert "Future Classics" while watching it, and indeed, one of my first thoughts after the show was "that really was classic!" ^^
