I'm sure that all who is going to Utada's concerts know her for her japanese works, not for this is the one... or at least 95% of them.

Ayu has a lot of fans, a lot of people went to london, and 75% of people in London weren't from UK!! I went from Spain!! fans from Norway!! we are crazy for her!! She herself has said it on TA, she is reading letter from people in countries she has never been before, and when I told Ayu that I came from Spain she was impressed, I don't know if she thought that Spain is far away or what, but she wasn't expecting a lot of fans, and even less so many peopel outside UK!

AHs is not the only from of Ayu fans, I can say you that I know almost 100 spanish Ayufans. And 70% of them are from Catalonia that is only a region of Spain. I know that if she'd held a concert in Europe not only the 10 spanish fans in AHs would go there...

OMG, An cafe had a concert in Barcelona!! an cafe, in barcelona!! how can't Ayu have a concert, ONE concert in Europe and gather a lot of fans?? XDDD you are understimating ayu xDD

really, you seriously think that Ayu can make a concert like LIMITED TA?? ONE in europe??

really, she has a lot of fans and she has never promoted anything here... from ayu's point of view she may think: WHY all these people know me, have my CD's?? why people from all over europe come to London to see me?? And we all, or at least me, said her that a lot of people wanted to come here, and also in the letter, we say that we could only gather those, but that she has a lot more fans!!

and now I'm organizing the DVD thing.. in 1 day 56 people said that wanted to participate, and I havent' count the rest, and a lot of people is receiving clips from other forums...

hmm, participating in such projects doesn't mean they will 100% attend her concert,IF she really hold a concert oversea. Not all willing to fork out the money to go for a concert, like me T_T
An cafe can successfully held a concert doesn't mean ayu is successful also.
Not that i am underestimate ayu's power.
There is so many ayufans start to complain about her singing vocals and bla bla bla.You think the fans will satisfy?Sure there is a portion of people will rant again."Ayu,please fix your vocal before coming and bla bla bla"
You may disagree what i said but this is my opinion

No offense to anyone...but hikki has more fans overseas than Ayu does...

she hooked all the otakus O_o
Actually, I would say that the size of their overseas fanbases are somewhat similar, as there could be many Ayu fans who don't really go on forums at all just as there could be Utada fans that do not. The size of a forum should not dictate the size of the fanbase, after all. It would be rather interesting if she decided to do a one-man live when she wasn't busy, but seeing as how she's been pretty packed to the brim with work (tours, planning, concerts, recording) all year since mid-2008ish, I don't see anything like a small live happening. I'm sure it would sell out if she were to do some small venues in strategic places.

Honestly I want her to do concert outside Asia but as many of you said I don't see Ayu doing a small venue tour. I think for now Ayu should focus on Japan and get some rest.

I personally will go to Ayu's concert overseas because Her concert stage is always awesome and I don't think that's a waste of money.

yeah..my only problem about her world tour is that there is no way, she will do a small venue concert...she need big stage, big lighting, big place, big crowd...because her concert is so grand...there is possibility to make another TA tour like she has done at 2003, if she make that kind of concert, i think small venue is ok...but for now i don't see she will do that...
i just hope that she will consider singapore...there is a lot of her fans at southeast asia, a lot of artist here know her...so i believe it will be a sold out concert...

yeah i dont think Ayu will do a small budget concert nowadays

this.shame that even she's one of the big name in Asia but the fact that she didnt even has a concert in Southeast Asia i really hope that she'd do at least once here, well,at least in Singapore idk.if so,many fans from Malaysia,Indonesia and others part of SEAsia can come.

Yes it does, I mean An cafe only has around 60k listeners on Last.fm, while Ayu has 199,210 listeners (Hikki has 219,832 listeners, so yeah you she can pretty much thank the KH songs and two English albums for the extras ) + Ayu pretty much had no US/EU exposure.

If miyavi and a bunch of indie visual kei bands can fill smaller venues (even though they have the "fan girl" factor) I am pretty much sure Ayu can also (plus I even know some people who barely care about her, but would go, cuz she is Ayumi Hamasaki).

I only mentioned the size of this forum because someone was saying that she could fill up a venue with our numbers.

And I dont think the sizes of their fanbases are similar O_o

I would love for Ayu to do a personal club-like concert like hikki...but do you think she ever will? I don't...it's a bit...out of her comfort zone....especially since she isn't really like...you know...one of those singers who can just stand at the mic and sing for 20 songs...or like the ones who just sit and the piano and play and sing...

about the visual kei bands...they're quite popular outside of japan, no? With the uh..."convention community" as I call them...both OLIVIA and Miyavi are more popular outside as well I believe...?

In Japan, definitely not, but as for overseas/international numbers, I think they might be closer in number than you might think, mostly in areas where Utada love is probably nonexistent.

My friends/Schoolmates do know at least one song (Come back to me) from Utada and that's about it. Wherein some of them know at least 2 songs from Ayu. The difference is Utada have an english album while Ayu doesn't but she's still relatively unknown in my case.
Personally I think it's because Utada's not really interesting and Ayu is quite interesting.
I forced my friend to listen to evolution she was like "this song is interesting and weird" she ended up listening to every track in I am... but that said she didn't become an Ayu fan.

I don't think this can be taken as fact or proof at how many international fans she has because I'm NOT on Last.fm and I've been an Ayu fan since 2003. I'm sure LOTS of Ayu fans are not on Last.fm just like it's possible they are not on this forum here either.

Even if she did a concert overseas, I don't think the stage would be as big as when she does her tours in Japan/Asia. I don't think they would transport everything so far out, it looked like it was so much trouble just to go in Asia in 2007.... Lol

Good points

As much as I like to see her do some overseas venues, I can't really see her doing one yet.

I'm quite confident in the fact that v-kei/jrock bands are way more popular that jpop acts. I know way more people who listen to j-rock and go to j-rock festivals here in the U.S. than I do people who even know who Ayu is. I'm a big fan of both though so there are a chance there are people like that as well. Maybe it's just where I live, but if a random j-rock act announced a concert around here and Ayu were to do the same, I could almost guarantee people would flock to the random act.
